I spent sometime listening to music on my new N73 vanilla last week and was very impressed with the sound quality.
However I upgraded to the N73 music edition last night and to me it sounds like the quality has degraded, has anyone else noticed anything similar?
It could just be me being paranoid but thought I'd check.

It could be the EQ settings.
I did wonder that but I've been in and it was set to the same as it was before. I've also tried changing it but it still doesn't sound good.
It's not that its missing range its the sound it's playing is grainy, as if the MP3's aren't good quality.
Which they all were last week!
Hate to say it, but its probably your imagination.
There was no change whatsoever in sound quality when I went up to ME.

Mine sounds more bassy now i've got ME firmware.

The biggest single thing I have found to affect the quality of the sound is the choice of earphones. Nokia's own are, to be fair, sh1te. I use Creative EP630's with my AD-41 and they are deep, full and responsive.
Apart from EQ, try the Stereo Widening and Loudness settings too.
I have always been very pleased with the output quality of the N73 😊

Listening to it today I can't hear anything like what was bothering me before. (crackling etc)
My Nokia headphones are still in the wrapper as having used Nokia headphones before I knew they would be terrible - I've got a pair of Sennheiser's at the moment that seem decent.

yes this problem is happened with me after updating my nokia N71 to the latest software ...and the sound quality + volume is %50 less ...
so you are %100 Right and not dreaming..
I'm using the standard Firmware. the new one on my n73 3.0704 etc.. and the sound qulity going from the music ed ( which i upgraded to ) to this one ... is amazing ..
The sound is fab now.. clear crisp and very very loud... the phone is set at 40% vol.. as any higher and the ringtone is too loud and the ear peice is bad!!..
Get the new ( jan 07 ) firmware .. it's fab!!!!!!!!!!
