N95 wallpaper resolution?

Anoyone worked out the optimum resolution for wallpapers? I worked it out on my N70 by resizing images until the borders disappeared, but the N95 seems to stretch or squeeze the image instead, so I can't work it out 😞

No, because some of the screen is used for clock, op logo, indicators and soft buttons... So a 240 x 320 wallpaper would be squeezed vertically to fit... If you rotate the phone it is 320 x 240 though, filling the whole screen. So you either have a squashed image in portrait or big gaps around the edges in lanscape :/

I took a screenshot of the standby screen and cut out the wallpapered area. It was 240 x 235, but has a single pixel wide white border along the right and bottom edges (so my picture was squished down to 239 x 234). Try those sizes out...

::edit:: Quick test shows that 240 wide x 235 high is perfect, no blurring or squeezing 😃

Ofcourse, good thinking! I was thinking about the size I use for putting various pictures on the phone. I used to have a SE M600i which has the same screen res. And transfering the pics onto N95 looked great! :con?

if it's full screen wallpaper you want, just download theme DIY for the N95, 2 minutes job, and you can create a full theme with full screen wallpaper (no need to resize), mp3 ringtone, new colour setting, blur wallpaper background and edit/delete if you dont like it, all on the phone itself.

by the way, my phone came with this program standard.
