Anyone bought N95 from Carphonewarehouse?

33 replies · 6,962 views · Started 18 April 2007

Hi,

their site says will contact within 7 days (e2save) to give the code for Nokia Maps (if you bought it with a SAT NAV bundle). 14 days have passed no response so I called them and now they saying some problems with their service and will be within 28 days!

Has anyone else got the code through them? So that I know they aint talking CRAP! If not then might as well return this bug ridden N95 and get a O2 XDA with Co-Pilot Live!

Take it back, you don't seem to like it anyway and this forum would certainly benefit from you not being in it!

whats your personal grief with me!? If you cant help then shut it!

I was helping, I told you to take it back if you aren't happy with it!
You are a very rude person who has a poor attitude towards a forum you are trying to gain help from

well your help sound more like a sarcasm and am not annoying anyone! Its jst people who know stuff think they are 'all that' like in my other post. That irritates me so much. I am finding this forum really useful and if am offending anyone then am sorry!

lol they still have it in stock if you want it! The problem is they just too ignorant in their customer service. Half of their staff dont have a clue to any of the functions on N95

If its the same as in store, the voucher will be sent 28 days after you've had it. This is just incase you change your mind/exchange it etc.

see the return section here http://www.e2save.co.uk/files/pdfs/Terms_conditions.pdf

I've tried , point plank refused

If you have bought the N95 thinking you could use Internet Telephony, then I would consider contacting your retailer / network to return the phone and cancel the contract for this issue.

NMayling, if you are one of these people, I would return the handset ...... ;0)

Like I said in my other post (in another thread) .... go for O2, and truphone works like a charm! They havent locked the handset and you are free to install any third party softwares. (although there O2 Web rates are over the roof, but who needs them if you have wifi at home/work).

I am but their T+c's have me over a barrel plus it over 14 days since I got it - I'm keeping a keen eye on this though and have logged my complaint with consumer direct.

I did phone a few time to E2Save but they were the most rude and unhelpful people I've had the pleasure of dealing with - My contract is with Orange and they were ok with cancelling the contract but e2save had to do it ( being the retailer ) The refused outright and woudl not say anything other than " there is nothing we can do"

between a Rock and a hard place , but i'll NEVER use Orange / e2save again as a result and am advising all and sundry to also.

No.

It doesnt work like that.

You bought the handset specifically to use the Internet Telephony feature that the handset has.

You wanted to buy the handset, as you had seen the Nokia website detailing that this feature was available.

You purchased the handset on the assumption that YES the handset would be simlocked to the network, but NOT that core unique selling features of the handset would be removed from the handset, stopping you from using the Internet Telephony function with your HOME / OFFICE AND HOTEL (WHEN YOU TRAVEL) WIFI connections.

At no point did you recieve any communication from Orange or the retailer detailing that the handset had had core unique selling features removed.

If you would have known this, you would have not proceeded to make the purchase and in this respect you were missold a handset and were not give your consumer right to oblige or decline the offer knowing the adverse modifications to your handset.

http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/after_you_buy/money_and_credit/bought-on-credit/

The fact that you purchased through a retailer is better as they should have told you the handset was modified and Orange in turn are at fault, as they have kept silent about this as per the OFCOM battle that is due to ensue ;0)

Dont be broken down and dont be scared to have aggravation with them mate. Dig your heels in squire and cancel that contract with the retailer directly mate ......

Cite that they have missold some goods, which has now been acknowledged in the press, with a well known BBC consumer program being involved, as well as OFCOM.

You wish to cancel the contract and that is final - The retailer cannot stop you cancelling the contract if the handset which was as much part of the contract has been missold - !

AND FOR GAWDS SAKE PUT ALL CORRESPONDANCE IN WRITING - EMAIL THE CUSTOMER SERVICE / COMPLAINTS EMAIL ADDY .....

a great post , but small flaw - can you find a contact email address on e2save.co.uk - its all phone only 😉

Great for a web retailer. Once I get home I'll dig out my order details etc - I'd phone but I've no signal now - My reason for trying to cancel Orange earlier as Orange Tech supp confirmed that I'd have poor reception ( ie None at home/office ) but E2save weren't intrested.

any idea how much comission E2Save get for my contract ? I'll keep phoning ther 0800 number until it reduces their revenue by that amount

hehehehehehehe - they must have a registered office or email addy. You should be able to find that out with your powers of deduction.

For email try the common probes like complaints@ / orders@ / enquiry@ / postmaster / webmaster etc - u get the drift. But get that postal address and do it RECORDED.

If all fails - Orange, will be able to give you the dealer contact information, incl address - ;0)

Also did you pay for using a credit card - if so hardball em and threaten a chargeback ?

if you really want to get out of your contract, the best thing you can do is take out their insurance @ 37.95 for three months.

on an 18 month contract - you will end up paying...

your monthly tarif for 6 months
+
2x insurance payments of 37.95

and possibly and excess of about 30 - not sure about this and will be speaking to them at the weekend about it.

With their insurance, they will let you cancel your airtime contract after 6 months on an 18 month contract.

Ive had no end of problems with e2save, I rang them up asking if they had the N95 in stock on T-Mobile, their sales person said yes they did and it would be delivered next day. When the phone didnt arrive the next day, I rang them back and said that it hadnt arrived and they said they didnt even have a release date for the N95 on T-Mobile! Cancelling it was a nightmare, they are so unwilling to help!

I always stick to retail stores now, although they cant offer the same sort of deals, you always have the peace of mind of going in and talking to the salesperson that sold it to you and go through all your problems etc with them.

Internet retailers are a nightmare!

Not all. I got my N91 from an online retailer called MobileShop.com last year and it was one of the best retail experiences I've ever had (online OR in store). They are friendly, helpful and actually contact you when they say they will. On top of that they use LivePerson so you can open a chat window from their site anytime and speak to a real person via IM. They are all very well informed (knew lots about the N91 even though I was pre-ordering) and keep you up to date via email at every stage. They even shipped the phone to me at work on the day of release!
The ONLY reason I didn't get my N95 from them is that they couln't match the handset subsidy T-Mobile did on their own site.

They also do a prize draw for anyone who sends them an email about their shopping experience and I won £100!

As im sure you will appreciate we all draw from our own experiences when judging these things! Im glad you had a great expereince, if only i knew that site!

what would be the basis of cancelling the contract / invoking the insurance

um, so far as I understand it - there doesn't have to be any basis. It's just part of the deal with their top of the range insurance. It seems a little too good to be true I'll agree - i'm going to pop into the store tomorrow and have a chat with them about it but from what the sales guy told me you can cancel your contract as soon as the 6 months are up. What i'm not sure about is if they let you keep the handset or not. If they do, awesome and i'll be doing it every six months. If not, meh, but i'll still get a new handset every six months 😊

i'll post back when i've been in to see them

whats all this conversation about? Can you explain to me a bit more? Cancelling the contract, insurance etc? I mean I do have their insurance which am planning to cancel ASAP because I have a home insurance that covers it all but if this is what I think it is then cancelling will be foolish option. So tell me more about this Insurance-cancel the contract deal?

oh BTW just recieved the text like they said they will deliver with the Nokia Map activation code .... so this means SAT NAV time! woo hooo!!!! Lets see if this thing works.

ok so if your too lazy to read or i don't make sense... :P

in a nutshell, i had a call from carphonewarehouse saying if you take their top level of insurance (@37.95 for three months) - a feature of that is that you can cancel your 18 month contract after only 6 months!
will be finding out tomorrow if you can keep the handset too or if you have to give it back

That can't take the phone back, you bought it. They gave you a subsidy on the understanding that you will stay on the contract for 18 months. If you breech that contract (cancel early) they demand the money for the full period (to reclaim the cost of the phone, and some!) but if the insurance covers that then it basically pays for the remainder of what you owe them :icon14:

thats what i'm hoping dude 😃

if i do get to keep my handset that'll be great. my 18 month contract then equals 3 N95's 😉

from wot i understand aboout the insurance policy u can keep the phone but they lower your credit score dramatically so there isnt really any point

not sure i believe that or see how it can be true. cancelling a phone contract isn't non-payment - especially if its advertised as a feature of the phone.
