replace soon with now 😉
just popped into Nokia service center and they showed me they were downloading the new firmware. will be going in tomorrow to get it flashed and will let you know how well it bricks my phone 😮)
NOTE: Not availabled on software updater tool - only at service center as yet
Any idea what cack it fixes?
I wonder when it will be available on NSU. Can't wait.
Any idea what changes or bugs has been fixed?
Certainly not on NSU yet... Also no idea on what's been changed.
Am I the only one that hasn't seen half as many bugs as the N80's first couple of Firmware Releases?
Apart from running a full backup through Nokia Content Copier is there anything else I should do before upgrading the firmware?

Cross your fingers and hope your PC doesnt crash.
I am permanently doing that!
I meant, do I need to make sure I have the application installers to put them back on or will they persist?
For preparations - i'm going to go with pray. pray hard.....
thats my procedure for any firmware / bios upgrades - that and use my UPS 😉

N95 has fewer bugs than N80, that's true. It has major problems with memory leaking though so one bug is really big. I can only see all the pictures of a 2 MB newspaper web page if I have restarted the browser and emptied the cache! 😉
And usually, you can't use two big apps at the same time.
N95 only has 64 MB in RAM and only ~22 of these are available for apps (E90: 128 and 80 MB respectively), but come on, it can't be this bad! It can be improved by a fix. It's naturally priority number one for Nokia.
One thing I'd like to see in the next firmware update is the abilty to lock the keypad but still use the media keys at the same time.
Hopefully better memory management, a better MP3 player and being able to end calls when you close the slider. Not holding my breath though.
Whats the chances of Nokia raising the resolution to as high as the N80 with a firmware uprade? Like updating the Drivers on your PC Graphics card? Surely the LCD can handle it?

Ain't gonna happen I'm afraid, the physical resolution of the screen on the N95 is 240 x 320, I suppose in theory it could go higher but it really would look shit as it would drop pixels.
To be honest I was unsure of going from the N80 to the N95 because of the drop in resolution, but I can't fault the screen on the N95. In fact even though the res on the N80 is higher, the N95 more than makes up for having a lower res by it having a larger screen!
You have a point about the size, i have got used to it now. But when i look at the N80 again it does make me think... :hmmmm:
Maybe the N100 or what ever is coming next will have the better res'.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T GET YOUR PHONE FLASHED YET!!!!!!
took mine in over lunch and the service center turned my beautiful N95 into a brick in moments =/
luckily carphonewarehouse swapped it straight out for me so top marks to them 😊
my advice - wait a while before flashing your N95's. maybe wait til the NSU has the firmware...

So what EXACTLY did they do to your phone to kill it? Did they state it's a problem with the actual firmware?
they didn't go into many details, think they were a bit concerned they'd just bricked their first N95 😊
I guess it would be the firmware, as it was quite an impressive bricking - the phone would get as far as flash the Nokia splash screen for a split second - then it would just turn off and not do a lot. I'll be waiting til they've done a successful one before they get their grubby mits on my phone again.
I think I'll wait until its on NSU and there are some comments on here about its success!

I've updated, not noticed any major differences - that said I was using the Orange software ... so at least I can use Truphone now.

Updated to 11.0.025 today via the official NSU program. All went smoothly.
Has anyone got a change log to show the differences betwwn old and new FW?
Incidentally, NSU appears to use exactly the same flash files as Phoenix.
NSU downloads them to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Nokia\Nokia Service Layer\nsl_service_module_00001\www.dsut.online.nokia.com.oti.caresuite\Products\rm-159\

I changed my product code on my Orange N95 to the Euro1 using NSS and then did the upgrade. Truphone still doesn't work. Guess I need to zap the phone now.

Yes, there is still no Internet calling option. I used the product code 0536062 EURO1 - Plum and I am now on the following:
