Guest feature writer and UIQ enthusiast Asri al-Baker describes his experiences getting through an entire day's smartphone activity using nothing more than the Sony Ericsson P990i's flip-closed one-handed interface. He's trying to prove a point, of course...
Read on in the full article.
Projekt and Aqua Calendar are both very impressive on the P990 - highly recommended.
Great article, it pretty much show what i also feel to be the P990 main strenghs, the ability to adapt, to be pda when needed, or a normal phone in others!!!
I hope this kind of articles is a sign AAS is gonna give more attention to UIQ3
Agreed, but I can't help thinking that UIQ is such an ugly UI. It doesn't win you much street cred compared to S60 etc.
Very interesting how he managed to use Mobipocket reader in flip-closed mode. The latest official release (5.2.550) cannot work in this mode (at least I never managed it...)
I agree with the article - I thought UIQ3 was really quite good, after reading so much doom and gloom about how much worse it was than UIQ2. I have in fact ditched the P990i, but for different reasons, the interface gave you a good range of options for getting at the numerous functions.

As already mentioned in the article, in order to view files, you need to use 3rd party filemanager like X-Plore or Swiss Manager (Pro). With filemanager, you can browse into the directory where you put the PRC files. Clicking any PRC file will launch Mobipocket Reader.
Oh yeah, by the way... thanks for all the comments. More UIQ3 stuff coming soon in AAS. Stay tuned! 😊

Asri, not only that, if you add the mobipocket reader shortcut to handy day, you then can open it on flip closed mode, without going to the file
hope to see more articles from you soon 😊

Yeah. I notice that as well. Handy Day UIQ3 s a superb application actually but poorly implemented. It always gets killed in the background 😉
No promise but you'll see me more often here in AAS 😉
Cheers all! 😃
