I may be stupid but how do you put the N95 on silent mode without going all through the settings routine?
It's making me madder!!😡 :con?
putting N95 in silent mode
Press and hold the # key. Simple. Glad to help.
Hi sToKiE I have tried that and it dosn't work on either of them we have 2.
I thought it would be that but no joy
Bill
I take that back it worked?
I have tried this and it didn't work tried again and it did?
It doesn't work on T-mobile n95, they disabled it
The #key doesn't work on mine and it's sim free!
Anyway if you press the power on/off button it brings up all the profiles , then choose silent.

It may just be the firmware. I had an N80 before I got my N95 and the # key worked, then I updated the firmware and it didn't! It doesn't work on my unbranded N95 either. It didn't specifically switch the phone to silent but changed from the current profile to the one at the top of the profiles list, so if you'd changed the top one from silent (like I had) it switched between the current one and that one.
Hi
I updated the firmware last night and my wifes still isn't working so it must be the software update that has got it working.
I tried and tried a few days ago and read the book today and found nothing but it is working with the new 11,0.026 software.
Bill
That was quite straight forward to do with the help of this site nss to change the phone make and nokia software updater all went great for me. I saved my settings on my memory card after update just reinstalled them and its back to normal. plus the silent key works.
or perhaps you missed the on/off button on top. Press that once and you can quickly select silent mode.
Hi Illuster
Yes your right I never knew that thanks that will work on my wifes who has the old software great pity it won't work on her lol
I've just updated my fw to the latest and the # key still doesn't work for me.
mine is working fine bowman
it says activated silent
then activated general.
It didn't do it before have you changed to euro 1 as well to get rid of voda or who ever your with? I used nss as I was told to on here.
Bill
My phones were on orange before the change to euro 1
Mine's unbranded, bought it sim free from the Carphone Whorehouse.
i got mine sim-free from ebay (i'm in california), the # key didn't work to switch to silent. after flashing to euro1 and upgrading new firmware, it works now.
if the hash key doesn't work you can use the power button at the top - works like most other nokias
I don't know if works because my phone hasn't arrived yet, but in my N91 works pefectly! 😃 Thanks for the trick
My new N95 on T-Mobile doesn't work either. Im just about to upgrade the firmware. Fingers' crossed the # key will put it on silent.
Stange... According to Nokia Software Updater, there is no update for my N95. My current firmware is:
10.0.018
15-03-07
RM-159

If your phone is branded you have to wait for the relevant operator to approve the new release, and they're always slow because they add their own stuff to it. Same for O2, Vodafone and Orange. You can attempt to unbrand it yourself but there are risks. Just do a search, you'll find many posts relating to unbranding.
Other option to change to silent mode. Just press and hold top right menu key. After two beeps sounded just say 'silent. It will automaticly change the profile.
Ah I see... Cheers bowman for clearing that up for me.
Rogerwee - It doesn't like my voice very much, it tries to dial someone I dont really want to speak too!
I've got my phone in silent mode and it doenst vibrate when its ringing:con?, however it does when I get text message.
Can someone confirm that my silent mode settings are correct for the phone to viabrate when I get a call.
Ringing tone = Off
Video call tone = Off
Say caller's name = Off
Ringing type = Silent
Ringing volume = (at first bar)
Message alert tone = Off
E-mail alert tone = Off
Vibrating alert = On
Keypad tones = Off
Warning tones = Off
Alert for = All calls
Profile name = Silent
I hope my phones not buggered :frown:
I've got the latest firmware (Euro 1 - V11.0.026)
I've changed all my profiles. But I have one called Vibrate with those same settings and it vibrates for calls and texts.
No, no, its not what I wanted to hear.. :bawling:
Yippy, its working again.
I switched the phone off and back on again and it came back to life. 😊
