Z8 to acquire brothers and sisters?

Mobhappy's Carlo has been blogging about his briefing from a Motorola VP, talking about future UIQ 3 smartphones to follow up the MOTORIZR Z8. Apparently there are some announcements tomorrow....

This will be great news if it's true. Symbian already has Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung and LG bringing out new devices this year, so if you add Motorola to that mix you end up with manufacturers that cover almost the entire phone market.

It's also a lot healthier for the Symbian platform to have more major manufacturers actually using their licences, it takes Symbian much closer to being a universal standard instead of just a Nokia/Sony Ericsson one.

Plus I'm sure a lot of Americans will appreciate the RAZR-esque designs that Motorola will probably come up with, and the US is the one market Symbian has so far failed to crack.

No announcements of follow up handsets to the Z8 - the product launches today were all about handsets which we already know about.
