Usefull Tips 4 Your N95

For those who aren't too familiar with the N95's Symbian OS 9.1 here's a few helpful tips.

Tip #1. Using the edit key (the pencil key)

If you're in galleries for example, hold down the edit key and scroll left/right to mark several pictures. Good for making albums, or deleting multiple pics at once.
In you inbox you can do the same to quickly mark SMS/emails for moving or deleting. You can also use this function to mark text. When you marked some text or emails, you can hold down the same key to get a copy and paste option appearing on your function keys.

Tip #2. Using the "C"key.

In case you didn't know, The "C" key is a quick way of uninstalling an app. Just press menu and move to the app you want to remove and press "C".
Same if you marked a bunch of SMS or pics. Saves you loads of time!😊

Tip #3. Task man

By holding down the Meny key you can quickly switch between, and close apps!

Tip#4. Picture gallery

In your gallery you can "quick scroll" by pressing up and down instead of left/right. you can also just press 5 to view fullscreen and 0 to return to the gallery. In fullscreen mode use "5" and "0" for zoom

Tip#5. Sneaky pictures.

If you need to take a picture and don't want the cameraclick to sound, simply put the phone in "silent profile" before you start the camera!

Tip#6. Open programs with your dialpad

In Menu or any subfolder use the keypads "1" to "9" to open the program in the same place. ex. If Wifi Wizard is placed on the left in the third row, press "7" to open it since "7" is in the same location on your dialpad!

Enjoy!

Now this one I didn't know. Good one. Guess it explains why we have icons in a 3 x 4 layout.

Tip #1. Using the edit key (the pencil key)

Is it possible to copy/paste text from text messages / email messages as well?

I read on some other forum that it should be possible (keep the pencil key down while moving the cursor, and then a "Copy" option should appear), but I could not get this option to work. This would be very useful to copy/paste links from messages/mail into the web browser...

Tnx,
P8

Yes it is!😊

But only opening a textmessage isn't enought. You need to open forward first, so that you can edit the text. Then just hold the pencil key down as you scroll over the text and press copy.

It can be very usefull!:icon14:

Tip #7

Pressing and holding the # key in the standby screen will switch between silent/general profiles. Unless you have the T-Mobile version, when it functions "normally" switching between number and letter entry (could this be for internet calls eg <id>AT<sip-provider>?) hence why other phones, voda/orange, use the profile switch, because they are crippled?

What exactly do you do to "press copy"?

As you hold down the pencil key the softkeys become copy/paste as appropriate. A little fiddly on the N95 due to the position of the pencil key, but very useful.

Thanks a lot. I've got it now.
Plundered a bit to find the paste function, but it was just the same - with a time lag 😊

Very useful shortcuts in my opinion 😊

This is one of the best threads I've ever read on the N95!
I thought I knew a lot of the little tips for using this phone but I didn't know 1, 5 or 6 and they are REALLY useful timesavers especially when the gallery starts to fill up.

Yeah, it's what computers have become! ;-0

I'll post some more tips soon. Gotta take my Baby (N95) on a weekend holliday first!

Tip#7 : If you press and hold the media menu softkey, the one above the c key then you go straight to the music player.

Hope it's useful
