I have just purchased my N95 on the Orange Dolphin plan, and am unsure about pricing.

Does it cost you anything to use the Maps/SatNav at all? I've had a little play around with it for example (found my house, girlfriends etc), and am wondering if it's cost me anything to do this?

Also, does anyone know where you can download ringtones and wallpapers/themes for free? I'm sure you can somewhere and I'd rather not pay to be honest!

Many Thanks!

Rich. 😊

The GPS and maps are free to use. When you load 'maps' it asks you if you want to establish a network connection - say no if you don't want it to cost you. (not sure what it does if you do connect though - perhaps downloads points of interest?).

For ring tones, you can use any mp3 or WAV I beleive so you can use your existing collection of mp3s. Alternativly, there are loads of free sites from which you can get WAVs.

Cheers mate. when ya get a phone they never tell ya about the costs involved. do you know if you can use your songs in an I-Tunes library then?

Just make sure that you don't have two solid arrowed lines under your signal strength and you'll know you're not connected. If you do see them then press and hold the red button and it will disconnect you.

But it should always say its connecting when it connects so you should have plenty of time to cancell it if you don't want to pay.

As for I-tunes - Not sure if the N95 plays AAC but if you have mp3s in I-tunes then they will work - you just need to copy them to the phone or card.

Having said that, I'm not sure how the DRM on I-tunes mp3s will effect the ability to play on the Nokia.

Be careful using Maps, have you preloaded maps onto your N95, I mean connected it to a pc and downloaded Nokia Map Loader and loaded the UK map? Otherwise your phone will connect to Orange and download the maps as you use it. Which of course can rack up a massive data bill. So preload the maps first!

Your best option is to get one of Orange's data bundles, although they are fairly expensive. But theres just so many things the N95 will want to connect to the internet to do. Depends what you want to use your phone for.

As for free ringtones, do a google search, theres one or two very good sites out there! Dont think we can post links though.
