Hey guys,
Firstly this is a great forum and I appreciate everyone who has helped me so far. However I probably shouldn't read it anymore as things keep cropping up that I don't understand!!
Firstly, my main issue is the Nokia Maploader. Having successfully got the GPS to work (thank you to those who helped), I am having problems with downloading Maploader to my computer. It says I don't have the latest '.net' version. I imagine this is solved by just a simple download of some kind from the web, but I can't find a site via a google search that can provide me with the download. Does anyone know of anywhere? I imagine someone must have had the same problem as me!
Secondly, this could be totally irrelevant right now having just got my phone, but I have seen plenty of messages on here relating to VOIP, firmware and Software updates - however despite reading what people have written I still can't work out what it's all about!! :con? People are changing their product codes, updating software, getting firmware - WHAT'S GOIN ON! what is firmware...?
I'd appreciate it if someone could briefly explain what this is all about and why people are doing it. Do I need to do it? I'm on Orange and it seems it varies for every network, and also what is the benefit of updating etc.
Cheers (apologies for this essay!)
Rich.

Maps etc can be found at www.smart2go.com.
With regards to your other questions, it's probably safe to say, if you don't know about or understand it, you don't need it. The N95 offers power users a lot of features, that can be enhanced with a bit of tinkering. If all you want is to make calls then don't worry. (VOIP is a way of making tel calls over WiFi networks/internet without paying your provider - in your case Orange - any money)
Re the firmware upgrade, this is the way that bugs get fixed, well some of them some of the time 😉 You just need to plug your N95 into your PC with the PC Suite running, and click "check for updates and let the phone do its thing. Or alternatively, you trundle along to your friendly Orange shop and ask them whether you have the latest firmware and it not, would they mind installing it for you.
Cheers mate, that's a help! Jus one more question on the maps that's raised - Do I need Nokia Maploader for Smart2go.com, i.e. do they run off each other? or do you pick to go down the nokia route or smart2go, i.e. whichever suits you better?
The .net message is probably related to Microsoft .Net framework.
I would post the link but as i have not made 10 posts i'm not allowed! Just type .net framework into google and it will be the top result returned.....
Maploader is what you use on your PC to get the maps onto a memory card for your Nokia (you will need a memory card for the N95 as you can't load them independently). You choose which countries maps you want to load, space and requirements depending. Advanced warning; the download of maps is slow and can take 30 minutes to load maps onto the card.
