Nokia N95 on 02 Network - PLEASE HELP ME -

61 replies · 15,144 views · Started 15 June 2007

I SPOKE TOO SOON !!!!!!!!

My 3rd Nokia N95 from 02 online is going back!!
this one has been in use for 60 days almost

i updated the firmware to version 11 by changing the N95`s product code because 02 had no intention of releasing a firmware update, and they dont give a damm that people are unhappy
so after updating i thought everything was OK and then today it re-started itself 3 times again!!!

WHY DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING NOKIA ???????
THIS IS JUST NOT ACCEPTABLE !! 😡

its behaving exactly like it did when i had version 10 firmware!
only difference is its more stable when using my Nokia BH-900 headset

i also had a BLAZING ROW with 02.....again!!
they asked me to choose another different handset,
i dont want another handset!! i want an N95 that works!!
they said i had to send the phone back to them, i said "kiss my ass" in no certain terms am i going without a phone for more than 5 days!

i now have a 4th handset coming next Monday!!

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!

im up to here with all of this !!
anyone else on 02 online and had NO restarts at all?
the problem is you wont know it re-starts until you actually see it!
after it re-starts, if you ring anybody or they ring you, you can hear them clearly, but they CANNOT hear you!!
it does something to the internal microphone i presume?

Its not 02's fault their are flaws in the N95 firmware especially the first version, if you cancel while web browsing when a page is loading via wifi it will restart, it will restart if you do other things someone should list them all. Its not 02's fault its flaws in Nokia's firmware, even the new one doesnt resolve this. Dont know why your blaming 02, there are practically the only operator that

1😊 don't lock the phone to their network so the phone is sim free straight out of the box
2😊 don't disable features like orange or Vodafone, (internet calling)
3😊 don't add loads of crappy software like orange do that slow down the phone
4😊 don't customize the firmware to add loads of crap.

The phone 02 give you is a sim free mobile with 02 screen saver them etc put on but that's about it. Also the newest firmware for the N95 isnt major its only a minor update im sure when major ones come along better updates will be available. 02 do get firmware updates for their phones my friends N80 had a few released after he bought it, just got to be patient.

Also 02 don't release the firmware updates its Nokia stop blaming 02 get your facts right before blaming people and the Phone. THe way you talk you think 02 made the phone and the software for it. Most other UK operators havent got the new firmware updates either its not just 02. Think before you type it just sounds stupid.

Tbh mate, my GF works for O2 and its pr*cks like you who make her day shit. WHy the hell are you taking it out on a member of staff O2??? They're just doing their job like the rest of us and they can only offer you what their boss says they can offer you.

I suggest you think about what you are doing next time and realise that that is just another person on the end of that phone/in that shop and you have no right to go balling at them because of something Nokia have done wrong.

PMitchell wrote:ACK, can't hear it any more...

If you don't want 02 go to orange or Vodafone or T-mobile see how their handsets compare, you'll see either disabled features or loads of crap customized to the firmware or its locked to their network. And their still wont be firmware updates for the phone and still most of the same problems if not more.

If your not happy with the N95 maybe your better off with a more basic handset.

It really annoys me that you don't know your facts, its like shouting at an employee of a supermarket because such and such's product wasn't up to scratch and didn't taste nice or cook in the time it said on packet. Well what's it to do with them contact the manufacturer, all they can do is do an exchange and after 4 exchanges of the same product then maybe you should have learned to either get a different product or contact the manufacturer.

Im with 02 and their are faults in the first N95 firmware which there always are in smartphones, i can put up with the restarts because im sure Nokia will get round to releasing a major update soon as possible as they always do. I remember getting my Nokia 6680 it was packed with bugs until a later update.

I got in touch with O2 the other day to ask about the new firmware for the Nokia N95.

(I have a O2 phone with a Vodafone sim in and to be honest I've had hardly any problem with mine restarting, freezing, not hearing people when I call them etc, etc.)

And to be fair they were very helpful.

Facts are:

Yes they don't know when the new firmware will be available.

When speaking to them they said they have not had that many complaints or returns compared to the N80.
(This could have been their way of getting out of it) so I contact Vodafone.........

The person I spoke to at Vodafone said they have had thousands of complaints and people insisting on returning their N95's!!?. He even tried to talk me out of upgrading to the N95 because of these problems.

Lets get this right!!............

O2 reported on "Not that many coplaints" and Vodafone reported on "thousands"!!.

I had an idea, I contact a friend of mine who has a N95 from Vodafone to see if he was having any problems...... Wish I'd not bothered............ He was having a nightmare with his.

So to finish..............

I've had my O2 N95 with my Voda sim in now for about 3 months with very little problems, my friend has had his Vodafone N95 with Vodafone sim in and is having problems.

If you read some of the forums people are still having problems with the new firmware update.

In my opinion, I feel that O2 don't really mess about with their phones i.e. locking them to other networks, putting extra programs on and removing others. while other providers do.

Could this be where the problem is?. other providers are messing around with branding and removing programs while O2 just send out the phone as is.

This could explain the lack of the new firmware for O2's Nokia N95, maybe the person I spoke to at O2 at the start of this report was telling the truth about the amount of complaints.

I see more complaints on other forums from Vodafone, T-mobile N95 owners than I do of O2 owners, except for the lack of the new firmware which I feel I don't really need.

Now please, these are only my views and there are bound to be differences of opinions out there. I just had to put my point across.

All the best guys.

Beef

Keydogg and Quakester

thanks for your lovely POLITE messages 😊

the person i shouted at from 02 was a Team Leader
and i will shout at WHO i damm well want to! especially when im paying £45+ a month for a contract over 18 months for a phone that should do what its sold to do!
when i get through to customer service im always very pleasant to the girls on the end of the phone, i know they are just doing their job
when they say they will NOT give me another handset and expect me to keep this faulty one, or send this one back and be without a phone for more than 5+ days, thats when i lose the will to live and then get through to a team supervisor who then calms me down because i get ANGRY with being fobbed off!
if you can all put up with re-starting handsets then thats up to you, i wont, i was on a call yesterday and the thing just re-started! do you think thats OK to accept this? well it is NOT !!!!!!!!!

if ANYONE is on 02 Online network here and has re-starts frequently, PLEASE let me know now and MAYBE i will just keep this handset until another firmware version comes out
i dont want to risk getting Number 4 Nokia N95 only for it to arrive and have that even worse wobbly clicky slider and high pitch whiney noise

You got me wrong. I cant hear that whining any more.
Do NOT buy branded handsets, esp. not Vodafone (a sickness!).

You present well considered views and comments... 😉

The only point of dispute I have regarding O2 is that if they don't brand (modify) the FW in any major way then they have very poor excuse for not permitting Nokia's NSU to offer V11 O2 branded FW within a few days of it's generic release.

However, my view is that Nokia needs to change their policy and Just Say No to all FW customisations. Nokia should limit network branding to Themes and additional programs. Nokia should refuse point blank to remove any standard features or modify existing functionality to suit Network providers. I don't believe Nokia would lose sales as customers would chose to buy the N95 from an alternative network if any one network refused to sell unbranded Nokia handsets.

i've had my n95 for over a month now on o2 online and have had absolutely no problems with it. never restarted, no wobbly slider, no problems with whining like i've been reading about.

only problem was that the pin for the charger bent out of shape and couldn't charge the phone (it was on a table and the phone fell off the table while charging). when i rang o2 they said they didn't have any replacements but go to an o2 shop and buy one and they would refund me (i didn't in the end as i have other chargers from my n80 and a 6111) which i thought was really nice of them as it was my fault the charger was broken.

so yes there are happy o2 n95 owners.

Thats a relief - I'm about to upgrade in a couple of weeks and was going to go for an N95 - but the first few messages put me off...until I read this last one. Here's hoping and fingers crossed!

LOL

Buggy Nokia phones. I've been using Nokia's from the days of the 5110 (Google it 😉 ). I've just come to accept that 'bugs' are part of owning a Nokia! 😃

They have it made Nokia. They know full well that the competition, in all honesty, is pretty shit. They know that despite the bugs and the problems that virtually every Nokia handset has, we'll always, and I mean always, come grovelling back to them! 😎

Just follow the usual procedure when owning Nokias - accept they always have bugs and accept you'll have to wait for a 'proper' firmware update that addresses them 😉

I'm happy with my N95,which i got sim free from mobile fun.
I get a hissing when in a call but i'll get that sorted soon as it's under the warrenty still.

NO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ready?????????

4th Nokia N95 turnt up today from 02 ONLINE, wobbly slider time!!!!

5th one coming tomorrow, im going for a record, wonder if i can get to 10 by the end of the week!!!!!

im at work tomorrow, so im gonna leave them an EMPTY box to swap over, and then i will have 2 handsets to compare when i get home,
if 02 dont like it then TOUGH ! i really have had a guts full
im so fedup i cant even be bothered to Argue, lol

can we have an awards ceremony for me?
the unluckiest mobile phone purchaser of 2007 is............ME!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, wheres that rope gone??????

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Hope you get a good one this time round mate, and i hope the delivery man does'nt clock that he's picking up an empty box.

But by experience they've always checked the box.

Maybe it's Nokia's version of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,

If your lucky and report on 6 faulty Nokia N95's you get a free trip to "Shit phone land", where all phones are completly crap.

Maybe we should scrap all mobile phones and go back to the 2 cups and a bit of string method?.

On a serious note, good luck with the new arrival.

I'm sure you will keep us posted.

All the best

Beef

Beef! you have cheered me up today, im laughing even though im sick to death of my luck, lol

oh well, like you said, lets all go on a day trip to crap phone land, he he 😉

That's OK, O2 will take out a CCJ and the baillifs will take your sofa and TV to pay for the 2nd N95 you are stealing from them. This forum used to be a positive helpful place.... :icon13:

Yeah 02 wont have any problems doing that, they did that to a person i worked with for not paying a bill of like 400 and the phone is worth 500, they may even charge you for the non delivery of the phone as they wont pay to have it picked up again if its your fault.

you two are so funny, are you married to each other or something?
the pair of you are just "irritating" :icon13:
its customers like the pair of you that let these networks get away with that they do
how anyone can just accept a crappy noisy slider, and bug filled Nokias is beyond me
its like buying a car with no windscreen wipers, get my drift?
i know it is NOT 02 Networks fault, but they shouldnt sell these handsets when people are sending them back in their droves!

i will take my chances, because i aint putting up with another FAULTY Nokia N95
so IF they decide to do something about it, then let them, i have a GOOD case
they will get whatever handset i decide NOT to keep
my friend is on 02 online, and he has had ZERO problems, absolutely nothing wrong at all
how do you explain this?

maybe i will pop down to 02 in Slough where their head office is and ask to speak to someone, or get hold of OFFCOM
im sure they would both listen, this charade is NOT only me
go here and read instead of criticising! :banghead:

And after O2 do that someone will come and take you to prison and you will hatch a plan to escape by digging a tunnel with a soup spoon and secretly getting rid of the dirt by letting it fall through your trouser legs while walking in the yard...............,

To be fair, I've not had a problem with my Nokia N95, but if I was on my 5th or 6th phone I'd be "Throwing phones and breaking bones" (Like what I did there? with the bones and the............. Forget it).

I would call in on the head office, always better to deal with a company face to face, (I know you wont but) don't go in guns blazing. I'm sure they will do something for you.

Once again, All the best and keep tasting the gravy

Beef

Beef

your great mate, im glad at least YOU understand where im coming from
and as far as me going into 02`s head office, i WILL do this when im out and about with my other job, if they sort a good N95 out then i wont have to

the story continues.................................

Waynester wrote:

Yeah, and it is totally beyond me, how somebody can be so fussy and nitpicking...
I would really advise you to give it back, get a refund and crawl back under your stone.

PM - you are EXACTLY my point in my last few comments

screw you, do EVERYONE a favour and go jump in front of a bus

Fussy and nitpicking??

so it`s ok that im paying 40+ a month on an 18 month tariff and am having to put up with a CRAP handset?
my god, i give up with people like you!!!!!!!!!! :icon13:

Come on guys...........

This is a great forum with some great personalities.

If you had spent, and are spending money on something you are not totally happy with you would do and say something about it.

Waynester is at least still seeing the funny side of it. To be honest, I was one of the lucky Nokia N80 owners who's phone was so buggy it is staring as one of the lead roles in the new Bugs Life film.

This forum is a way of getting our own points across and hopefully helping others along the way. (Maybe even getting across to the manufacturers).

In my opinion (What ever that's worth) I still think the Nokia N95 is one of the best and most sort after phone available, yes it has it's faults and bugs but hey!, You buy a car, it has problems, the garage sorts them out. You get a girlfriend, she turns into the devil, you tell her to.............. Sorry went off on one there.

But you get where I'm coming from.......... O2 or Nokia will sort it out.

Please lets not forget what this forum is for (is there a porn section in this forum?) Anyway, that's said and done.............. Who fancy's a pint??.

Keep tasting the gravy

Beef

agreed 😊

i apologise

i just want an N95 thats ok, lol

i think the phone is great
have taken loads of pictures on it, amazing camera etc
wi-fi works like a dream
im also taking it to the USA when i visit my daughter in Florida in September
video recording is great to! will help catch special moments
Sat Navs rubbish, but then i have TOM TOM so im not fussed

PEACE

Waynester,

There is light at the end of the tunnel mate, trust me.

Enjoy Florida, The wife and I have gone there for the past 5 years.

Great place to bring out the kid again. (rest of the year we lock him in a cupboard. ONLY JOKING THERE)

And food................... Your wobbly slider will be the last of your problems when you have to fork out for an extra seat on the plane because your arse wont fit in a single one.

All the best Pal

Keep tasting the gravy (and baby back ribs)

Beef

Waynster you really are not understanding you keep blaming 02 why don't you change network then go for orange or vodafone, tmobile or three there is loads of other choice out their. Unfortunately Nokia has made flawed N95's that's the way it is. Either put up with the some minor problems or get another make like Sony Erricson, LG, Motorola or Samsung they might have the phones for you, as if you cant put up with N95 flaws that Nokia have left in then you should wait until later version or a newer model is released. As unfortunately the flaws go way beyond just a few phones.
