This thread included a poll: Your verdict of the new version

I can't believe you guys aren't making more of a fuss about the removed tracking feature.

Sure I paid for navagation - but I didn't pay for it on the understanding that tracking would be removed in later versions.

So OK. I've paid for navigation. Nokia got what they wanted. Now please can I have my free tracking service back too?

I don't care if the want to make you pay for navigation, but as a bonus free tracking should be included for those who pay for navigation too.

Navagation only shows routes (e.g from a to b) but tracking shows your actual physical location on a map. They are two equally (but differently) useful features.

It totally royally sucks if they have removed it completely.

I take it you've spotted the official FAQ on the S2G website...

"Why does smart2go not offer a tracking mode?
If you have a GPS receiver connected to your mobile device or if you own a mobile device with integrated GPS receiver which is supported by smart2go, smart2go can be used as full navigation solution. You can use the navigation feature already for three days free trial. If you like smart2go, you can of course simply go on using it by purchasing a navigation license. We offer navigation licenses for one week, one month, one year or for three years."

Interesting how they avoid the question completely! I agree with you though, to remove the feature must be frustrating. Thankfully I've not upgraded my N95 so will continue to enjoy using it for free.

I guess that a simple way to roll-back today is to perform a hard reset of device. This will get you back to the previous version.

It's probably gonna become more difficult when the next firmware is released though. The new version of N.Maps will probably be bundled into that...

I haven't tried it yet, but does the free 'Sports Tracker' prog available on the Nokia website do the same thing?

My understanding is that it does not allow you to view you're position on a map (such as N.Maps) in "real-time". But you can afterwards apply you're "trace" on a Google Map (but not N.Maps).

for free tracking you can try mgmaps. great program, with many maps sources including google maps,
online and offline map loading. its java so memory-angry. working with internal gps.

Can anyone confirm where I download the maps app from? I can find the maploader on the links here but not the actual map.sis or whatever it's called? Smart2go don't list the N95 now and I can't see it on the Nokia site. I've actually got Copilot now but want to keep the Nokia Maps solution up to date as it will be cheaper to use in the states when I go on holiday!

The one for the N95 has been taken off for the time being maybe due to bugs its unknown, just use the one that comes with the phone for now.

Gentlemen,
anybody an idea about this:
I had the Beta running fine on my E70 (E70 was supported by the betas) and dowloaded AND PAID !! for a couple of maps.
Yesterday I upgraded my E70 firmware and the maps (smart2go) does not start anymore now.
No problem I thought, just reinstall it. But now the E70 is gone from the list of supported devices.

Hey guys.

just got a few points about this maps option.

Firstly I'm pretty amateurish on maps, but when I downloaded from Smart2go I chose the Windows Generic Mobile option because N95 wasn't there. It works fine for me, possibly better than anyone else's to be honest! I suggest trying it. I get a super quick satellite lock - even when I'm inside - and no bugs.

Secondly, the tracking option is still there on mine and it looks like the older verison is the best. (If it ain't broke don't fix it springs to mind). I defintely am not changing mine unless I have to!

When I try to use the Nokia Map Loader 1.1v, It gives an error "An unexpected error occurred. Try again Sorry for the inconcenience."

What is wrong?
My Map is V3.0.
Someone pls help
