Hantro v1.1, 2.1 and VideoMMS

Anyone tested the lastest Hantro Video Recorder v2.1? How to you think when comparing it to version 1.1 as well as Wind's VideoMMS? 😊

I couldn't test it 😞

I have Wind videoMMS, since I am (also) a Wind customer and I think it's a nice program. Well, it would be if it didn't associate .AMR and other filetypes with itself 😞 and if any MP4+audio player for PC would exist 😞

jyrik: well, it would be illegal, of course... but t-mobile release just doesn't work with other providers, so if you can use it you are legally entitled to use it 😉

I don't know if it's freely downloadable like the v1.0, anyway.

btw, what are improvements over v1.0? the ability to send videos via mms? or what? can it record audio too? can you change fps and resolution rates? does it still have "t-mobile" under every video you produce?

It's about time it was updated (not that I'm complaining! 😊 It's gone quiet on the video subject lately, and I was hoping to be able to open videos from the Inbox and save them directly to the Video player, instead of rooting around in Handy File.

There is one from Philips. I think it's called "Platform4Player" or something like that.

Yes, sending via MMS seems to be possible, I haven't tried it yet, though. Audio recording is not supported. You cannot change any settings and it still has got that "T-Mobile" logo under the videos.
When recording, you now have got a bar showing how much recording time you have left for your video. When playing, the total/current playing time is shown.

the DIVX plyer works fine. Just go to www.divx.com. Anyone got web address for latest tmobile video software.

Hi.

I found this in the Hong Kong nokia website. It is intended for 3650 but it may work with the video from 7650. It is called Nokia Multimedia Player.

Haven't tried yet.

You might be right, but you might be wrong also.
There are two ways of using t-mobile.
The first is if you got t-mobile from your operator and its distributet to all of the operator users with or without charge (Ex: VideoMMS for Wind operator users)
The second is if the app is cracked which is not legal.
Are you entitled to use a cracked app?
I think its a philosofic question 😃

Ok, here's more philosophy: If you are not a T-Mobile customer, you cannot even purchase the software. So T-Mobile has no chance of earnig money with you. That means, if you use an illegal copy of the app, there is no economic damage generated to them. Because of that I would not have any scruple using a cracked version of the video app, although still illegal.

Yeah, but the t-mobile video recorder is not made by t-mobile but Hantro
in Finland, so you are stealing from/damaging them, not t-mobile.

Hantro sells the app to operators only and gets the revenue from that.
So you are basically screwing them. 😞

I think its a philosofic question 😃[/quote]Actually, I wasn't even thinking about a "cracked" version of T-Mobile, so I was just writing what I thought was a surely true sentence.

Now, I don't want to get inside "ethic" or "philosophical" topics... just one little thing

since Hantro does NOT sell to us, poor little 😃 end-users, if you copy their application you don't directly damage them, since they would never get money from you anyway. You just damage T-Mobile and other companies who licensed that software: they probably paid Hantro to have it exclusively for their country, so they would sell more 7650's and have more MMS traffic than competitors.

This is much more complicated than just using "keymakers" or "cracked" applications from little software houses like Psiloc, Wildpalm, Epocware, Symbianware, and single programmers. I don't even know if using a pirate release for something not available in your country would be illegal. I remember the same thing being discussed time ago for satellite "pirates" who defended themselves saying "Sky doesn't sell in Italy, so we have the rights to pirate their cards because we cannot legally buy a subscription". You can agree or disagree, but judges said no rules could condamn them (I don't know if the situation is different now, actually I don't care very much :P)

anyway, after reading your posts, I think I will keep using my good ol' "VideoMMS" from Wind. Only thing, I am using it with another operator's SIM (even if I'm using my Wind SIM on another phone) so I don't know how happy they could be 😃

p.s. thank you! I am downloading Philips player right now

and NO, nokia media player does NOT play MP4 files at all. I just wonder what format are videos in 3650 recorded

3650 has uses MP4 allso.

so... if N3650 uses MP4... WHY ON EARTH doesn't Nokia give people a FULl-WORKING application for our PCs?!?!? they give out that stupid "multimedia player" that doesn't play files made by their own phone ?!?!?

actually, I suppose MP4 was produced only by early betas, I think the "official" format will be in 3GPP compliant format (hence, extension ".3GP"😉. This is just a supposition, made starting by the assertion that nokia does something with LOGIC ... so it will probably be inaccurate 😃

You might be right.
I'm saying this because it was a couple of months months ago when i saw a screenshot showing that he 3650 records in mp4.

3650 will work with MP4 and Real Video's.
There are A LOT of MPEG4 audio/video and interactive players. Since I don't want to do advertising for my own company, I'll list a few 😊
First of all you can open MP4 files with Apple QuickTime 6 (and acutally you can produce MP4 files, shorty header 3GPP compliant with QT6 Pro). Then you definitely have to download the Envivio TV player, the de facto standard player in MPEG4 world (it supportas audio, video in Simple and Advanced Profiles, BIFS and 2D scenes). There's the iVAST video player (that offers quite the same features of Envivio's but adds 3D interactivity support) and the Philip's one (iVAST minus interactivity at the moment). More, there's the video player from Dicas Video, that from MPEG4 Solutions, DivX Network's Playa and, last but not least, MPEG4IP's free and open source player.
