what is this for a file?

21 replies · 3,783 views · Started 13 January 2003

i found in directory:

C/System/Cbs/ the file: Cbs0.dat
(made at first boot if i was buy my 7650:30.06.02)

and Cbs2.dat(30kb:made today)

i ask this because once,
if i have a troubel to open my mailbox via Gprs, and then my Cbs2.dat file grow in one step from 17kb. up to 29kb.
The same file in my friends phone is only 17kb. big, like mines was bevor.

-how knows about the Cbs.dat-files?

-for what they are made?

-is the file also only 17kb. at your phone,or is it bigger like at mines?

I think, maybe this file have somethinge to do with the boot of the phone, because allways if i boot it new,the file is made at the same time again and subscribe the old one.

If somebody knows something, please help me out of this question...

ThanX in advance

Smi

sorry cant help there sami! :-? but one suggestion, try making another thread at the symbian C++ forums and maybe you'll get an answer there! 😃

Mine is:

cbs0.dat 71b
cbs2.dat 2kb

Strange yours being so big :-?[/quote]

Same here.

What is this file for anyway. Have you tried having set your log function to 1 per day only? Don't know if related. Just a hunch.

Mine are also quite big:

cbs0.dat 71 B
cbs2.dat 23 kB !!

But CBS stand for Cell Broadcast. If you open the Cell Broadcast Application, the task manager shows it as CBS. I have switched off everything related to Cell Broadcast, but still my file is so big. I am wondering how to reduce it again.

Yep, got it. Just delete all subscribed channels.

Now my cbs2.dat is back to 173 Bytes.

Open your messages, press options, choose "cell broadcast", press options again, select "topic" (I hope that's what it's called, I have a non-English phone, could be "channel" or sth. smilar as well), choose "Delete all". That's it. I'm sure you'll find it.

Hey thanx a lot!
The cell broadcast was the reason....
I fix it and have also only 178b now.
It is real nice, how peopel help each other in this board.
Thanx again and big moogely out there!

Hmm, perhaps your home language would have been better 😊
At Cellbroadcast, I have no options and delete all - only off and on at topics "Themensuche" in German)

@Freddie

Just follow the instructions in my previous posting. Don't look in "Einstellungen" but in cell broadcast press the left menu key (="Optionen"😉 and then delete all in "Themen". Is my English so lousy ?? Or maybe a Swiss phone is different from an Austrian 😉 ???

Yes, actually you are right. I just wasn't sure which forum to join. I am actively following aikon.ch, *******.***, AAS, *******.***, TT and don't want to leave my traces behind everywhere (already get enough spam 😉 ).

I guess I will join AAS and aikon. Or any advice from you? Which are your favourites?

to be honest, i've been to some forums but never lasted as long as i stayed here. and i never got any spam (that i know off 😃 ) that was caused by AAS. this is the best symbian forum out there! why? this forum doesn't allow warez, and since it doesn't, developers love this forum too, and since they do, they drop by here regularly - which gives us the chance to voice out, complain, seek help on the apps they developed!!! 8)

there you go guys! the rationale of not allowing nor condoning warez! makes sense, doesn't it! 😃
