Does anyone know how to stop the phone from changing the times of the calendar entries when you change timezones?
I almost missed a flight at the weekend from Spain because the phone had changed all calendar entires +1 hour when I got there. I had the time of the flight in the calendar as 22:10 but the phone changed it to 23:10.
In general, you don't want to change the way this feature works.
Say you have a recurring appointment at 4pm UK time (to call your mother). If you travel to Spain (+1 hour). You'll have to call her at 5pm local time, and the phone automatically adjusts if you change the time zone. This is a good thing.
Two answers:
Enter the time of all appointments in UK time. So if your flight leaves Spain at 9pm, enter it as 8pm before you leave the UK, then adjust your time zone when you arrive.
or
Change the time on your phone when you arrive. It will ask if you've changed time zones. Reply no. The time will change, but appointments won't.
The thing is I don't really use recurring meetings, just one offs. I don't really want to start calculating times across zones as this would need to be done for every entry for while you're away that you set before you've left and everything for when you're back while you're away.
The phone doesn't ask about changing time zones, when I switch the phone on after flying, the time just changes almost instantly after a network connection.
I guess I could turn off the auto time update, but I like that feature as it checks the time everytime you turn the phone on, meaning it's always correct.
I have exactly the same problem and I travel a lot. The only way to do it is to change the time on the clock and not the time zone. It's a real pain!
I wanted to avoid that, but I guess that's the only way to do that.
I can just about understand for recurring appointments, but why would you want you want that for non recuring. you set a time because you're going to do something at that time not at that time in the country you're from. Doesn't make sense, there's not even an option where you can turn that 'feature' off - that I can see.
