Comment: What about SIP/VoIP support in 6120? Is it built in?

-- it has a SIP protocol stack but no Internet Tel dialer. Managed to circumvent the problem using the fring client. But would be a pain as one need to manually enter the phone numbers for SIP calls.

Nokia has short changed consumers by intentionally disabling this feature.

i recently bought the nokia 6120c and since its an s60 symbian phone, i tried downloading .sis application but it says it dont support them, what could be the issue

Make sure you use S60v3 applications, and not the old ones, S60v2!

I bought this phone 2 months ago and have had a fair number of problems. The battery life is very poor. With very little use it needs recharging every second day. The voice tags does not work. One can't be expected to speak like the computer voice in the phone. The bluetooth component keeps on disconnecting. Having had a 6230I buying this phone was a step backwards.

The navigatior key does not work when your on the phone and you need to go back to the main menu.

If I knew all these prior to purchasing I would not have bought it and I do not recommend it to others.

Can Nokia 6120 Classic USB Modem connect faster than 921.6Kbps(maximum) in HSDPA(3.5G) network?
I am living in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
I am using Celcom Broadband 3.5G postpaid
I am using Nokia 6120 Classic as the modem thru USB
I use Windows XP at the office and Vista in my Laptop
My connection and download speed usually is very good (more than 600Kbps download on speedtest.net and at one time 900Kbps)
Thank you

Hmm, nice phone, I think battery is somewhat a bit lesser to the demands of this time age. But overall great phone, especially its hard body which looks sleek too.

6120c is rocking with me. I have not checked a lot of the features as yet, like Internet, downloading, 4GB card etc. Camera firstly was taken as poor but as I used it, it gets better.

Screen is just amazing :icon14:

Some comparisons against the Nokia 6234 have been made in terms of their similarity, but I really don't think this can be made. I have actually upgraded to a 6120 from a 6234 because the 6120 made up for where my 6234 was lacking. You may be able to shoot videos in larger resolutions on a 6234, but that handset pales in comparison on oh so many levels.

edit. obviously you need a bluetooth gps receiver though since there's no built in gps but you can pick these up from various places or on ebay for around 35

Can you confirm what version of tomtom will work with the Nokia 6120? I am downloading a few versions via torrents.

Is the application just installed simply through Nokia PC Suite?

Is it easy to add new maps for asia and australai?

Thank you

I like all about this mobile except 4 things:

* Changing volume in games is not supported, you always get max sound which is often way too much (sound like the speaker is going to break).

* Every time a sound effect is played (and music changed) in a game, it freeze a second (you always have to play without sound effects to make them playable).

* You accitently hit the camera button all the time when you are talking in the phone.

* Takes time to start the menu after restarting the mobile.

Note: I use a Nokia 4GB mSD card, works fine, but could be the slow restart.

Interesting that Nokia would make a phone such as the 6120 when the E51 is very similar in size. Maybe it's a price thing. I have an E51 - same width, 9mm longer but 3mm thinner. Same size screen which is small but pin sharp. I run four email accounts, wifi, check rss feeds, make calls, use Garmin MobileXT via a Globalsat BT-359 bluetooth GPS to find my way around - I plug in the radio at news time, great sound - and the battery just keeps on going - with all that seems to last about three days at least.

The E51 has HSDPA too. I have a Samsung SGH-I550W smartphone - running Symbian s60 software too. Side by side with the E51 the E51 will show full signal strength whereas the Samsung shows 2 out of 6 bars??

I had a E65 but it had some software issues, and struggled to find wireless connections sometimes - otherwise a nice phone

Hay lads, just purchased the 6120 classic after having a really bad experience with an ETEN M700 and its not a bad phone plus it seems to work with Skype, Sling Box etc... Just wanted to know if anyone has tried out an 8gb Micro SD card for one of these phones, if so did it work or am I going to be the guinea pig in this test?

Nice reviews and the phone itself. I just bought one lately. Though months past after the review, the phone still stands above the others. A 'humble" phoe with lots of features of a PDA. Also, I like the standard mini-USB port, the cable is widely available, though, USB charging is not supported. Or is there a new firmaware update for this? Also the standard 2.5-mm phone jack is okay. I can use a third-party earphone as I want.

Might be the Symbian version conflict. I hope this helps.

This phone is perfect for me.. but there's a serious design flaw in that the phone doesn't charge through its mini USB port, instead Nokia sells the CA-100 USB charger, so if you use your phone as a modem like me, you'll end up looking like an idiot connecting 2 USB cables to your computer.

The phone's HSDPA only goes up to 3.6Mbps. only a few phones can reach 7.2Mbps now and there are none that I know off that can reach 14.4Mbps right now.

Been using the 6233 for over year and got used to the functions. The 6120c seems to lack many of the 6233 functionalies.

1. I use the reminder function alot. This function is no longer there. Can I download and install it?
2. If I use the 'to-do' function. What is the fastest way to copy the same 'to-do' task to another time or day. In the 6233, I can just copy to differenet time, day, days of week, etc.
3. On the 6233, I can program short-cuts the up, down, left and right Navi keys but 6120c. Any way to program the 6120c Navi keys to do short-cut to message or calandar?
4. If the the 6120c does not these functions, which current Nokia models offers these functions. The N95 also does not have remimders.

Hope someone can help me with these question?

Thank you in advance.

i was wondering because i get so many different opinions, what size micro sd card gives the best operability with this 6120? i have heard that 1gb is the best. also i've been told that the phone can take up to 8gb...what will be the best

thanks

I enjoyed reading your reviews! However, would you know if this would be compatible with a Jabra BT160 Bluetooth Headset? I've been searching Jabra's site but to no avail!

Thanks in advance!

i plan on getting this fone soon, can someone tell me if this fone runs the normal symbian applications like file explorer and dictionary.pls reply sooooooooon.thanx...

I own a "6120 C" i also heard that this phone can only hold 2 gigabytes GB of data so i was sceptical when i brought a 4GB microSD.
But it works like a charm the whole 4GB the only think i dont like is the time i have to wait to copy files from my computer to my phone.
Try copying a 700MB movie file into the phone takes ages, around 15 mins
i really hope nokia fixes this problem with the data tranfer rate from full speed to high speed
