Hi there,

Just wondering is it possible to re-assign keys?

for instance can i stop the gallery key bringing up the gallery?

Cheers

Settings>General>Personalisation>Standby Mode>Shortcuts.

Then you can change all the keys in there to whatever you want

I hope that is what you meant.

I don't think that's what he meant.

If you are talking about the multimedia key to the right of the direction pad, or the gallery key next to the camera button, I'm afraid they can't be customised.

The only keys you can re-assign are the top left and top right (blue ones).

I just made the switch to Symbian from MS mobiles and I am quite amazed to tell you that No, you can't assign the hardware buttons on S60, except for the two soft keys. I find it very weird, but it looks like the Symbian community fully has accepted that. Kind of a let down, when you are used to being able to assign up to 4 functions to each button...

Ah, really.

I always have that off as the main menu looks awful with the calender etc, so I don't have anything on my main screen.

Although you can't change the Multimedia button itself you can change the shortcuts that appear.

Multimedia menu | Options | Menu Items.

Multimedia menu | Options | Menu Items.

Don't suppose its possible to change the icons it assigns for certain apps is it?

ie. Fring doesn't seem to get one and looks a bit crap

Anyone know if it's possible to change the application it defaults to when multimedia menu opens.
I know you can use options > menu items to add, move and remove apps, but it's currently showing 'Video centre' as default app (i.e. app which would open if I clicked on main button) and I'd like to change this if possible.

Fortunately, yes you can change which app it will show as the default. While on the multimedia menu, press options then menu items. Now notice that dot on the right side of the listed apps? That tells you which app is the default. So all you have to do is move the particular app up or down such that it sits on the left of the dot. 😎

Ah- I had seen that dot and had assumed that's what it signified, but couldn't for the life of me work out how to alter this.
So thanks!
