Could someone pls educate me, whether and how can I set my favourite MP3 song as a ringing tone for Nokia N95.

MP3 as a ringing tone
Goto Menu, Tools, Profiles and set the ringing tone in there for the profile you want.
Alternatively while it's playing on the phone you can just go to options and 'set as ring tone' (this will apply to the currently selected profile)
As a matter of interest, in the Help menu my N95 says you should be able to edit sound clips on the phone but I can't find any application installed which does this ... it's a generic phone (01.01) with v12 generic firmware so I'd have thought the available applications would match the items mentioned in the Help menu.
