For me the best part of it is that its now a lot faster.

i seriously thought it was quite slow hence why i wanted to change to the new music edition

every1 to there own i spose 😊

what did you have on there before??

did you have a memory card in there??

seemed very slow with my 2gb one and hated my 4gb one

music edition v3.0705.1.0.31 seems to work better for me ie fast and likes my memory cards 😊

What procedure did you use to upgrade the firmware to the file you linked to in an earlier post?
I can access the downloaded firmware via NSS but too afraid to click the flash button.

Can you post detailed instructions on going about it in NSS?
My current FW is 3.0705.1.0.31 with 0539346 Product Code
I'd like to enable the A2DP profile for my unit to use with A2DP headsets

hiya mate

if you dont know what youre doing take it to a service center or a good flasher 😊 speacially if you dont have insurance mate 😊

might be worth waiting for the firmware to be reported on ie faults bugs etc if you upgrade now its gonna be ages before nokia release another update before you can change things again

iam sticking with the v3 firmware my phone loves it but i guess if you want stereo bluetooth go for the new normal v4 firmware be warned about the backwards compatibillity issue with old bluetooth versions see posts on this site about the firmware 😊

hope that helps a bit mate

good luck

Thanks 'buxz777' for all the usefull information.
Have had my N73 for about 3mths., it was purchased on ebay s/hand but in mint condition. It is locked to Orange. Its the black version & says on the box that it is the music edition, but after checking the firmware I discovered it was the standard edition. Have updated the firmware 3 times so far (3.0705, 4.0723, & 4.0726). Have been lucky & had no problems with any of the updates. My gps is the same as yours & has worked fine on all of them. Main reason I purchased the N73 was because I could use it as a satnav & had been given a copy of TomTom6 to use on this model. But I will wait till the latest firmware is fully tested before upgrading again.
Thanks again for all your advice.

Thanks for all the feedback and the testing that's might sporty of you chap.
I'll hold out until an actual firmware update is ready at Nokia's site for my unit.
I've only done flashing via NSU and the latest version is somewhat flaky.
A2DP headphones can wait.

well mine was originally 3.0638.0.0.30 with 2gb memory,...and when i press the menu button, it would take like almost 2 to 3 seconds to show the menu...when i type a text message it sooo slow that i have to wait for the character to show up after i typed it...and the phone keeps shutting down...and sometime i would just grab my phone and see it turned off...so i updated to 3.0705.1.0.31 and fixed the shutting Off bug but still slow...now i updated to 4.0723.2.0.1 and walla! it not only fixed the checkbox on the web browser which i really needed for web browsing but its a lot faster too!!! and now i updated it to 4.0726 and woooff i love it. the only thing is that i dont like the default theme but i can live with it...oh and when i open the camera too its now a lot faster...

hi mate
have you tryed a bluetooth gps device with it?? you should check the cam compression as well. sayig that these are the only two faults i find with the normal v4 firmware
compression to much on camera went from 700kb with me v3 to 400kb with normal n73 v4 it also seemed to take around the same time to open but it could be cause my memory card is slow iam not sure
ram management seems slightly better in normal v4 but only slightly the only reason i noticed is because i run a taskman and it tells me how much ram is left etc and what apps are open as stated v4 seemed to have a tad more ram left but for me it didnt know what to do with it as the phone still run quite slow with v4 on it but quite fast with v3 me on it

iam wandering if it is because my phone is a proper music edition black euro was your one just updated to v3 music edition via a code change etc maybe this is why it didnt like the v3 me firmware just a stab

people say this product code changing dosent affect the handset but be warned from previous exspereinces it makes the phone very hard to flash with anything but nokia updater

one flasher i know wont touch anything that has had this done he told me your not changing the product code your just masking it over and this messes with the chipsets in the new nokias which could be why it voids your warranty

i went to another guy who owns a shop said can you fix me phone told him id changed the product code he said yeah thats no probs when ive finished everything wil be reset etc
he had my phone 4 days and tryed every firmware ever made for the n73 nothing. hes never had this problem --like i say he does phones every day afterwards he said it must be the product code messing with it

so if youve changed your code be ever so carfeull when flashing maybe this is why my flash for the new me didnt work but iam only gonna use nsu fro now on on phones that have had pproduct codes changed to risky otherwise

also does any1 know if any bluetooth phone that has bluetooth stereo support actually has backwards compatabillity with bluetooth v1 v1.1 etc etc ??? iam thinking maybe anything with bluetooth stereo support will only support bluetooth v2 and higher when the release new ones
just another guess but an intresting one 😊 maybe the firmware for the normal n73 (v4) hsnt got a bug and that this is the way that it has to be for stereo bluetooth

nice 1 peace out and have fun
