how to recover after system crash

Has anyone idea how to recover phone functionality after crash.
The battery discharged during taking a photo and I must have lost some data.
I observe about 100 MB memory became free, the gallery and music player don't want to start anymore. LifeBlog doesn't want to copy pictures from my phone. On the other hand LifeBlog on the phone works and I can see only 2 pictures has been lost.

Finally, there are only two thinks which don't work.
Gallery doesn't want to start after pressing icon or button next to this one for taking pictures. Media player doesn't start after moving a slider.
It looks like applications have lost the entires to the gallery.

Looks like you need a hard reset!

One option is to perform a hard reset (complete whipe of phone): *#7370#

What happens in fact in case a hard reset is performed? Do I lose all the settings of my phone?
My understanding is that hard reset is also executed when phone is turned on and off (or battery is taken out) and it doesn't help.

Do you have any guidline for all these commands with short discription?

off and on is just a restart.

Hard reset is essentially reformatting the phone to factory settings. All user data and customisations on the phone will be lost.

After hard reset I'm asked about a blocking code which I don't know
so I must select "cancel". Finally I don't know if reset has been performed at all and I can't observe any improvement of my problem.

Could anybody tell me if there are any tools to check SD-card for any lost files?
It looks like I have got errors on my SD-card, as my files disappeared after battery discharged during taking a photo. I can't enter my gallery and generally phone started to work slowly. When I try to restore gallery I'm getting communication error.

Wrong Info, SuperSwede...

*#7370# is NOT a hard reset, it's a format of the phone's internal memory.

A hard reset is as follows:-

1. Power off the handset
2. Hold down 3 * and GREEN buttons
3. Power on (still pressing the three buttons above)
4. Wait 60 seconds (still pressing the three buttons above)

Unfortunately, if the Camera was saving a pic to the MicroSD card when the power was lost, it may also be neccessary to format the MicroSD card (using the Memory Card app in the Tools menu).

I thought this as well but ended up getting puk'd cos the phone rejected the 12345 code three times.
If you are registered on T-mobile's My T-mobile (why do they insist on treating us like children?) get your PUK code on line and store it somewhere safe (not on the phone Duh!).

If your computer has a memory card reader you could try plugging your memory card in then going to its icon in My Computer, right-click, click Properties then the Tools tab and then use the Error-checking program.

So, can you think of any harder reset than formating phone memory...? 😊 Anyway, and the difference between theese two are...?

*#7370# does a hard reset - a complete format of your phone, as if you just took it out the sealed box. * 3 and GREEN does the same thing for those who can't even start their phone

*#7780# resets all personalised settings back to default. The same as "factory settings" in the menu.

I've also read that you can start the phone in safe mode by holding the pencil key whilst turning the phone on.

Isnt hard reseting simple reflashing your phone with the same or better yet last firmware. Thats how I did it at last.

Slightly incorrect...

*#7370# only formats the internal memory.

* 3 and GREEN buttons at power up is a Hard-Reset, and does more than a simple format.

When you say internal memory, do you mean just user files and settings and not applications? I know it won't format the memory card. As far as I know a format is a format - wipes everything, then reloads the operating system from the ROM.

What do you mean by a simple format and this does more than that?

Duh... I knew you were gonna ask what the difference is between a hard reset and a simple*#7370#. 😮

Believe me that here are differences, but I don't know the exact detail. One obvious difference is a hard reset does not need the security code typed in.

Are all of these key combinations or codes somewhere documented?
Has someone got any manual to share with us?

It will wipe everything! Settings will be re set depending on the upgrade the nokia upgrader sees fit to let you install. This is different for different product codes!
