N95 with Tom Tom 6 or Route 66?

7 replies · 11,187 views · Started 17 July 2007

I am looking to purchase preferably the Tom Tom Navigator 6 Software for my N95 as I have an external GPS which worked with my N70 using version 5 but I telephoned to buy it & was told this is not compatible with my N95 phone!?

I looked on Route 66 for S60 Version3 but again no N95 is listed!?

I see people are running the Tom Tom 6 on N95 so am I looking at the wrong software?

Would greatly appreciate any help on this.

Thanks

*I dont have a N95, but I have read LOTS on this subject*

Tomtom does work on an N95, the only problem is it will not use the internal reciever, which kind of defeats the object. Tomtom refuse to say when/if they will release a version/patch that will enable it.

But I have read many many cases of tomtom working with a bluetooth reciever.

I have route66 software on my 6110 navigator, and its awful. Really really bad (route66, not the phone). However I havent seen any others complaining too much so maybe Ive just been astonishingly unlucky, but I dont think so. For more info see my other post in this section of the forum.

bartmanekul: Many thanks for the very prompt reply, but can I just ask am I looking at the correct software ie. Tom Tom Navigator 6?

Also can the maps be tranfered from the SD card onto my Micro HDSC 4Gb card using a card reader?

Thanks again.

As far as I know, yes, tomtom 6 is the correct one. However, please check before buying, although Im fairly certain its a package that caters for all sorts (windows mobile, symbian etc) it would be best to check in case there are different versions.

As for the map transfer, looking at some packages they seem to come on DVD. So I *assume* that you load whatever maps you buy/need onto whatever memory device you like.

I transferred the maps fine from one SD card to another one, but that was with tomtom 5.

Although Im fairly certain Im right, I cant offer you any definate answers. Sorry!

I use Tomom in my N95.

It doesn't work with the internal GPS, but I use the same Nokia LD-3W which I used with my N73 and it works fine. And Navigator 6 is the software you're looking for.

Although Tomtom say it's not compatible mine works fine, no probs at all. It works in both the landscape and portrait orientation but you have to choose before you start the program, it'll crash if you change the orientation while the program is running.

You have to get the correct version as well, because they're different for Symbian, Windows etc.

Also note that Tomtom Navigator 7 is on it's way out, but I don't know when.

i use tt6 navigator with an external gps and it works a treat, better than 66 and the pre loaded nokia maps.

email me on [email protected] if you need more intel about the tt6

cheers

You can indeed, if your willing to pay when you subsidise all the ones that pirate instead of paying for something.
