Internet Calls/SIP/VOIP on debranded v12 Orange N95

OK... the story so far...

Got my N95 from Orange (free!)

Firmware was v10, locked down, no Internet Call/SIP/VOIP capability due to branding restrictions.

Debranded phone using NSS (Nemesis Service Suite) setting the code to a generic UK code - 0534841 as instructed in the excellent link: http://clear-nokia.blogspot.com/2007/05/nokia-n95-debranding-guide.html

I then upgraded the firmware to v12 using NUS.

The phone is now much faster and doesn't suffer from the microphone/loudspeaker bug anymore!

BUT...
I still cannot see the Internet Call option on the phone. I have however now got PTT (Push-to-talk)! 😊

Does anyone know what I have to do to get Internet Call as I would like to install Truphone (or Fring) to make Internet Calls?

Steve

Did you backup and restore the settings when flashing, you may have restored some of the Orange settings to remove the Internet Call options.

To get to the settings you need to go to Menu | Tools | Settings | Connection and you have SIP Settings and Internet Tel in there.

I think you have hit on the answer HoundDog! - I did indeed restore my phone from the backup I took before flashing... I thought this was what you had to do! Obviously I only need to restore my contacts and stuff, not the Settings...?

I will re-flash and do a selective restore to see if this fixes the problem.

(Ronaldo-9 - I have installed Truphone but it will not work without the Internet Call opton enabled. Thanks anyway).

I will report back with results!

Cheers,

Steve

There's no need to reflash, just turn the phone off and hold down * 3 and GREEN while you turn the phone on and keep them down till you see 'Nokia' on the screen and let go, this will format the phone.

Then restore but not the settings.

Top Man!

That worked a treat! Thank you very much.

Now to set up Truphone...

Cheers,

Steve
