Hi...quick question
How does this thing work, i think me and the missus have tried about 50 different barcodes and it just does nothing, its not really that much of a necessary thing just i wanna be able to use it because it seems like a cool application.
Are there any guides or anything?
It's used to read 2 dimensional barcodes, not the ones on baked beans etc.
Try this one....

At the moment in the UK the barcode reader is a bit pointless although in the Far East it's quite a big thing.
Although the barcode reader can read standard barcodes from your food tins etc, in practice it seems very difficult to get it to work.
However, there are things called QR codes which are 2 dimensional barcodes and the possibilities with this are endless.
Try visiting http://qrcode.kaywa.com/ selecting "text" and then entering something and click "generate". Then get your N95 to "read it".
One possible use is to store your business card as a QR code. So when you meet a new contact in the street you simply hand them a QR code and your associate scans it in rather than having to type out all the info.
Also, I believe movie posters on billboards in the Far East have QR codes on them and those with compatible phones can go up to them, scan them in and often the data is a hidden weblink for further info and prizes etc.
All quite clever.
