Could anybody tell me why I can't play the "In My Heart.dcf" file?
When I select it, I get communicate "No activation key available for In My Heart.dcf. Download the activation key? When I accept, the "rights-issuer.com" web page opens ... and I don't know what to do then. :con?
No activation key?
Anyone could give any advice?
Do music files have something like activation keys?
Not sure, my DCF file played fine but deleted it now as hate moby songs ;(
Maybe the reason is that I restored this file from one of my backups after upgrading to the newest firmware and maybe I have got the version of this file from previous firmware. No idea :con?
I can read in the file properties that it is dated 2006-09-11.
I observed that I can't play any *.dcf file due to the same reason - "no activation key". 😮
Any help?
Nobody can help me, why I'm always geting a communicate "Invalid activation key", when I want to play *.dcf file?
No advice from anybody? :frown:
I can send you the mp3 if you want the song so bad 😊
I see that it's more general problem.
It looks like I have got a file with this song on my phone,
but it doesn't want to run. Moreover, I can't play any other songs in this format.
In menu Tools->Activation keys I can see this file in the "Invalid keys" section.
Can you tell me what is the state of this file when you select the file properties?
I deleted mine after to listening to it for 10 secs. But saying that it did play for me no problem. I dont know what file type a .dcf if but surely most music you going to put on there is going to be mp3,wav,midi. Have you tried to play any of the other dcf files on your phone, i know there are a few in the ringtones section.
It seems that the file is part of the firmware (I had deleted it but when I updated to v12 it came back!) but for whatever reason, the DRM license key is not!
The problem is that you lose the key and need to re-install it but I, like you, have no idea where from.
I haven't tried that hard cos I don't like the song so sorry I can't be of help.
I have v12 and this song still plays fine on my phone so dont think its anything to do with firmware version, I havent had my n95 very long I wonder if somhow there is a time limit on it?
just checked mine file details are
status-Activation key is valid
Activation(play)-Unlimited
content sending-not allowed
date-28.03.2007
so therefore if play is unlimted i doubt that it has time limit, sorry cant help any further
mine file details are:
status-Key is not valid
Activation(play)-??? (no such position in my properties)
content sending-allowed
date-11.09.2006 => pretty old !!!
Can you send me your newest file?
Unfortunately the problem applies to all *.dcf files.
It looks like I don't have license to play any files in this format.
I suspect that something from my current version of firmware was overwritten when I restored phone content from the backup file that was made in the previous firmware.
Spot the mistake :-
I suspect that something from the older version of firmware was overwritten when I restored backup files after upgrading firmware to the newest one.
Now, should sound more logical.
Anyway, how to get a new activation key?
Please, send me a newer version of this file,
just to check if this is only a matter of only one file.
I flashed to V12 and got the file again, and it plays no probs on mine. However it wont let me send it as its read only. Its a crap song your not missing much. If you've also flashed to v12 try re-flashing to and dont restore settings from an earlier firmware.

I think, perhaps becasue I deleted the song, it also delted the key so when the new firmware put the song back on, it didn't have the key anymore. Had you deleted it before updating?
No, I hadn't deleted this song before updating. It looks like my newest version was replaced by the oldest backuped one.
... so I didn't manage to solve my problem
Does anybody know how to backup activation keys with use of Nokia PC Suite?
I read in manual that keys can be lost when memory is formatted or files get damaged,
therefore they should be stored and restored with use of this Nokia tool.
Maybe some experts appeared in the forum, who can give me some hints?

There's your problem! You should not back up and restore across a debrand or a firmware upgrade! You have created a version conflict! Do a sync, hard reset, re sync and re enter your settings and you will be fine! Re install your apps to phone mem for speed and stability!
I experience the same issue with losing the valid key for "In My Heart.dcf" that slawmilcz had. This is also after updating the firmware and restoring from backup.
I was aware of problems of restoring settings across firmware versions. So, I was careful to exclude the "Settings" section from the Nokia Content Copier Restore. In fact, only the following data was restored to the phone:
- Messages
- 63 user files from the Gallery (18.70 MB)
videocenter\mv\iptvmyvideos.db
Sounds\Digital\In My Heart.dcf
Others\ ... [ ... snipped: 3 data files ...]
NEF\NEFConfig.xml
My Videos\Nokia Nseries experiences.mp4
Installs\ ... [ ... snipped: 8 .sis files]
Games\SRDEMO\ ... [ ... snipped: 47 files]
WDUninstaller.SISX
The "In My Heart.dcf" was restored back as per above. Evidently, this was the problem.
pa49, would you advise not to do a Nokia Content Copier Restore at all, not even for the user files from the Gallery?
Thanks for your answer.
Unfortunalely the hard reser *#7379# doesn't help.
Still the same problem with no activation key exists :frown:
Hi slawmilcz, have you tried reflashing your phone again, without doing the restore?
The only backup I have is this one done before upgrading firmware to the newest version, i.e. with all the files (and settings) from the old firmware.
I didn't do a backup just after changing a firmware to the newest version and before doing the restore of my old files (e.g. with the newest version of this song and with the newest settings), which I could use to do this restore.
The next version of my backup was done after the restore which caused the problems with activation key :con?

Never use backup and restore for debranding or firmware upgrading. Never use content copier.
Only sync your contacts etc.
This has been the cause of many issues which dissapear when handled correctly!
Use the "green button, 3 and *" while powering on to reset!

Why would you want to copy gallery files? Aren't they on your mem card?

Hello pa49,
I have just downloaded the newest firmware again.
So I got probably the same result, as after this sequence, didn't I?
.. and I see no more problems with activation key with the song "In my heart".
Unfortunately some other songs downloaded in the past still report no activation key.
Now I would like to restore my phone content.
Can I use PC Suite and my backup done in previous firmware
with the "settings" box unchecked to do the restore?
Thanks for your support
