Oh, bollocks!
I meant to check that before I was going to buy copilot. Crap it all.
It says For example, support of integrated GPS receivers for one, so yes its compatible.
However, ask them if it supports 7 digit postcode as they couldnt asnwer me this when I asked, and it doesnt say it in the description.
For the benefit of everyone else, heres what I know about Navigon (I sent them an email a while ago):
It supports the internal receiver on the N95, and 6110 navigator.
It comes with maps for europe, not just the UK. The following:
Included in the download file is the navigation software with the following map material:
Alps & Adria, BeNeLux Region, Great Britain, Eastern Europe and Austria, France, Germany, Germany and the Alps, Spain and Portugal, Italy, Scandinavia. (This list corresponds to the actual map divisions.) Within each individual map you can navigate across borders; for example, you can easily drive from Austria into Switzerland.
However, as its over a 3Gb file, its unlikely you will get all of europe on a memory card, unless the file isnt zipped and you have a 4GB free card. More likely, you select which ones.
I have also sent an email asking if they do support 7 digit postcode support. Will post the answer here as soon as I get it.
Edit: Please note, it says :
Please note that the right of withdrawal does not apply for download products.. Which means you cannot return it if its crap presumably. Which is a shame, cos its much cheaper than the DVD versions.
Right. Im starting to get old faster with all this GPS malarky.
I have just had a reply from navigon RE the postcodes:
Dear Sir,Thank you for your request.
Mobile Navigator 6 for Symbian supports 7 digits UK postcode search.
Yours sincerely

So, looks like Im buying that then. Hopefully the menu system is better.
Would you please, please give us all a thorough review once you have tried this ?
Yes, I shall do.
Im getting the feeling I should be paid for this you know. 🙄
The official forum satnav reviewer ?
😉
Yyyeeeeeeeeeessssssssssss!!!
I downloaded navigon last night, and installed this morning.
First thing is to install the software on the PC. Easy.
Then it asks you to insert the SD card (obviously I used a micro SD adaptor - you need one).
It asks which countries you want - just GB for me, although I can always add some if needed.
Insert card in phone, auto install, sorted.
Startup app, asks for serial - whack it in - can activate either manually via webby, or via net connection on phone. I did the latter, which worked, it didnt work for copilot.
First thing I notice, is that its a very clean simple interface. Its sensible, and nice to use.
Only one trip so far, from home to work (15 mins worth) but the routing and instructions were good.
I will look at it in more detail over the next few days (adding POI's and such), and of course I need a decent trip to see what the routing is really like. I will also be trying out the postcodes of varous work members - the point of this is that they know exactly where they live, and thus can view the map and see if it gets it right.
If anyone knows how I can get screen shots of my phone onto the PC (bear in mind its a 6110 navigator, but same OS), I will provide some.
I'll answer any questions. So far, its looking damn good.
Oh, and I must point out again - you get all of europe for £69.99!
Questions....yes I have some.
Can you add speed cameras ?
Can you change voices ?
Does the interface "drag" ?
Does it have options for car, walking etc ?
Sounds good so far though......keep us updated 😊
Speed cameras - looking into it. I'll try, but depends how busy work is (and if I remember where I put them. Hopefully its in the same ov2 format).
Options of transport are:
Car
Bike
Pedestrian route
Lorry
Voices - dont know. Oddly theres no menu option for them, so for the moment assume not. The manual is on the computer at home, so I'll consult that when I get back.
What do you mean by 'drag'?
Does the interface move smoothly while navigating.....or is it jerky like its trying to catch up ?
No, seemed fine to me. Although I was driving along narrow lanes, so wasnt watching it too close. I'll look out for it, but didnt see any evidence of it at all, and the voice prompts were good.
I have tried 8 postcodes so far, and they are dead right. I am becoming more and more impressed with this.
The only things left on this for me, is getting speed cameras on and obviously making sure the routing is good.
I will however continue to answer any questions anyone has (as best I can).
And again, if anyone can tell me if its possible to give screenies of it, I'll do so.
Edit: Ive asked navigon about voices and POI. Their customer service is helpful, more so than tomtom.
Does Navigon have any maps for North America or more specifically, the United States?
Looks like it's UK/Europe only for now.
https://www.navigon.com/site/int/en/shop/consumer/addons Although that says its for a different platform.
But I cant see an option to buy that instead.
So it looks like you have to buy navigon (europe) and then the extra maps, assuming they have some available for the symbian system.
However, its always worth asking them about it, they are helpful.
I'll PM you the email addy if you want, doesnt seem to be published anymore.
Boo hiss!
Dear Sir,Thank you for your e-mail.
The Radar Info feature is not available on the Symbian version. Further, it is not possible to import own POIs with the Symbian version. Currently, there are no plans to introduce such a feature.
Further, according to the information I have, navigating.de does not offer the POI-importer software POI Warner for Symbian phones.
Yours sincerely

So no custom POI, and therefore no speed camera function. Oh well, I can live without that.
Im aware this will make it a nogo for many, perhaps thats why its so cheap. It seems all symbian based satnav is crippled in some way from the main versions.
I cant beleive they dont have plans to add it. With it, it would be a serious contender for tomtom.
can someone tell me which version of navigon works on internal gps of n95...regards
This one:
https://www.navigon.com/site/uk/en/shop/consumer/mobilephones/1114?deviceId=212
And for all you leechers out there, no its not available on torrents, which is a good thing imo.
Hullo! I'd be grateful if you could answer!
1. How long does it take before it gets a initial satellite fix? (Does it settle for fewer (3-4) satellites?)
2. Can you decide zoom level and leave at your own choice while it is tracking the route? (You can't in Wayfinder)
3. How is the map overview? Can you see cities and towns even when zoomed out considerably? (Problem in Nokia Maps)
4. Can you install and update the program via a Mac? (Neither Wayfinder nor Nokia Maps can do hat)
5. Can you download road data/maps while driving via gprs/3G? (Works both in Wayfinder and in Nokia Maps)
5. Are some buildings marked out? (They are not in Nokia Maps, but in Wayfinder)
6. Do town squares have an actual area surface? (They don't in Nokia Maps)
7. How about pay roads, traffic jams and road reconstructions? Marked out?
1. Not sure about the amount of satelites, but the fix varies. Can take from under 30 seconds to 1 minute. Note - thats with my 6110 navigator, and AGPS turned OFF. This may work out differently with an N95.
2. Unsure, but I cant find any options for it. But due to the size of screen on mobile phones being smaller then PDA and dedicated satnav screens, they all tend to zoom according to speed. The faster you go, the more it zooms out. I have found this a very good method, and navigon uses this.
3. Yes, all of that is no problem. Im presuming you mean if your searching for something while putting in an address or just veiwing on the map. The veiw never goes that far out while your travelling, unless maybe your doing 400 miles an hour!
4. Sorry, dont know. You would have to ask navigon.
5. No, although theres no need. The maps are very upto date as far as I can tell.
6. Not exactly, but any POI show up, which seems to be quite a lot of things. I might be wrong on this, I dont exactly live near any famous or even semi famous buildings.
7. Sorry, not sure what you mean?
8. Theres the usual toll charge thing, which you can set to avoid in the options. As for traffic alerts and such, it looks like it doesnt support it.
You can create screenshots with this program:

Looking forward to see some screenshots here soon. :icon14:

I am trying to make Navigon work with the internal GPS of my N95, but I am not being able to do it. Navigon tries to connect via bluetooth to a GPS receiver, but I don't know how to select the internal GPS, I cannot find that option at all.
Can someone tell me how to select the internal GPS of N95 within Navigon? The Navigon MobileNavigator version I am using is the 6.3.50.
Go into Tools - Settings - General
Scroll down to Position. There you can select:
- A-GPS
- Bluetooth GPS
- Internal GPS
- Netbased
Just disable Bluetooth GPS and activate the internal GPS.
I tried that screen capture software, it doesnt work, at least not for the 6110.
I dont actually know where my edit key is, Im assuming its the hash key. Either way, Ive tried many combinations and nothing happens.
As for the GPS receiver, it should find it automatically. Your using the same version I am maikelnain, so I see no reason for it not to find it. Best thing is ask Navigon for support.
How did you get the software, from navigon direct?
Which languages can be selected as voice? Only English, or can you also use Swedish, German ....?
I already selected only the internal GPS that way, and disabled the bluetooth GPS, with the same results: Navigon tries to find a bluetooth GPS.
Anyway there is something different, I don't have the A-GPS option, I don't know if this could be the cause. I have the firmware version 11.0.026, and I guess that the A-GPS comes with the latest version 12...? And anyway, do you know what is the A-GPS option for?
bartmanekul, I didn't get the software from Navigon. The reason is that I am looking for a good navigation software which works with the internal GPS, and before I decide to buy one I want to see that it works fine.
Where did you get it from then, and how much did it cost?
As for AGPS, it uses data to indentify your general area, so you get a lock quicker. It should not be a cause however. Besides, its only with V12 of the firmware I think.
Geraner - I seem to remember during the installation process (to the memory card vai the PC) you get to choose from a number of languages. If you need to know, I can have a look.
And if anyone can find some other screen capture software (that works with a 6110 navi) I'll post some screenies.
Sorry to double post, but I just had a reply from navigon about something.
Before I say anything else about it, can someone tell me what the difference is between a PDA (personal data assistant I assume) and a PNA? Im assuming my phone would be a PNA?
PNA is a navigational device only like TomTom One, while PDA is personal digital assistant like a PocketPC. Your phone is neither.
Sigh. Thanks SBC. Why is symbian so picked on?
Anyways, navigon replied about the POI issue with: http://www.navigating.de/cms/index.php?id=3142
Yes you gotta pay for it, but it doesnt look like it supports symbian anyway. And to ask a support question you have to go to another site which isnt in English. And Im getting a bit tired of emailing companies for info at the moment!
Perhaps someone else can do it while I recharge my batteries? 😊
