would be great if this was available for australia i might of actually bought it
Navigon Working On N95?
View my blog at vox.com for some short information which I wrote today after a first short usage of the program. 😊

bartmanekul wrote:Sigh. Thanks SBC. Why is symbian so picked on?Anyways, navigon replied about the POI issue with: http://www.navigating.de/cms/index.php?id=3142
Yes you gotta pay for it, but it doesnt look like it supports symbian anyway. And to ask a support question you have to go to another site which isnt in English. And Im getting a bit tired of emailing companies for info at the moment!
Perhaps someone else can do it while I recharge my batteries? 😊
Found an answer on their page where they are writing:
Can I install the POI-Warner on a Symbian telephone?
No. Unfortunately POI-Warner is not compatible with Symbian OS at this time. 😡
Thanks for finding that out.
One feature I really miss which route66 had, was the ability to save a position on the map as a favourite. You can do current location, but with rout66 you could scroll the map and use the cursor position to mark exactly where you wanted to go to.
Cant do that on navigon 😞

I agree with you. This function I miss too! Also with Nokia Maps you can select a point you want to travel via scrolling on the map. Nice feature. But not possible with Navigon MobileNavigator 6 😞
Read my last post about the usage of Navigon.

I ordered MN6 too, because of "a winning award of ..."
Mine is Symbian version for Nokia E65.
But for all others... tell me if i'm wrong and just don't know how to use it, but there's a couple of bad/missing features in that software.
-map can not be browsed without GPS!!! You can't search for addresses without GPS. And even You have... if You're in an office/inside a building (parking area) etc, map won't open before GPS signal has been received.
-if you're looking for an address You just got... just a street address. You got to know first in which city it's located at!!!! HOW DO I KNOW!! That's why I bought navigating software.
In order to bill Your company for KM's, You might want to look for a distance between two addresses... As You guessed... impossible.
-while recording a "favorit", font/background are in a same colour
-no manual zoom level
-no scale
-it always returns to a 2D mode
-no access to main menu without stopping navigation
-in order to compare/change shortest/fastest route, You got to go to a main menu (which stops navigation...)
-no input for coordinates
-POI handler for extra money... for symbian not even with moneny
- .... ....
As You might guess - I'm really disappointed to this software, even map display is nice and guides are clear. But those are not that much of clear, compared to a competitors, that this would be worth of buing.
Especially, when finding an address is impossible if You don't know the full adress. (Compared to Route66 and Navicore)
OK - I was a victim of an ad.
Just got to get a new software, even this has been in use for a week now.
This is just... worth of nothing.
I disgaree. While I too am missing many of the features, you have to remember your getting all of europe for a low price.

Yes it can. Enter whatever address, and select the right one when the options pop up. Instead of 'start' choose 'options' and 'show map'.
it always returns to a 2D mode
I havent found this. I think it might switch when you go above a certain speed, but I havent had the chance to watch mine properly yet (thats difficult while driving).
I find myself missing many of the features, especially the add destination by a point on the map ability. I usually check by google maps/earth and put it to the very spot I need. So, I suppose Im waiting for tomtom now.
*sighs*

OK. That's the way to see address (if You know where it is...)

I meant my previous selections while navigating or/and displaying the map.

As I looked at the other forum, there was an answer from Navigon support, that POI warner won't be available to Symbian...
All right. What's the point of getting a map for less money if there isn't a suitable software to use it?
Would it be more clever to invest few more 10 of € to get a solution which will serve Your requirements??
Navigon has a nice look-out. Good power saving idea.
But
-like map displaying mode, there's "tips" of buttons (1,2,3) what are their functions. OK. Nice to know for a couple of first two-three times but not anymore. Those are quite big.
-sometimes there's shortcuts to functions sometimes not.
Not so big issues, but annoying.
For somehow it's looks like a product that they had an idea of being "the best", but then they left it as it is?? Did they lose some programmer or what?
A little bit more user-friendly HMI, add couple more features (what can be found from competitors) and it would be really a good alternative.
For somehow it's like a product that they had an idea of being "the best", but then they left it as it is??
Cant tell you how much I agree with that. But that seems to be the case for a lot of symbian versions of the software.
I do disgaree with you saying you cant use it though. Bear in mind that what your getting is still satnav to anywhere in europe, which is something.
No, its not as polished as many other programs, but its still nothing to be sneezed at.
For me, I have to go back on my previous verdict and say its probably not going to cut it for me.
I really dont want to go back to tomtom as their support just doesnt seem to care (about anything), but who else is there?
Hey... Now You're talking...
Instead of an ad "winning award..." they could have "better than nothing...".
Of course there's a map which is useful and I might find my way to where I'm going to (If I just knew in which city that might be located at...).
I just spent some to get it. So I got to suffer for a while with it.
But if there's not gonna be any updates with missing, useful/needed features in the near future, Navigon team can be sure that my next choice won't be their system.
And there's a lot of peoples who're reading these forums, which means some of them will consider an other manufacturer.
"it's not available and won't be" - could be an other sentence in an ad.
Yep, and Im always stumped as to why large developers dont seem to listen.
Its a relativly simple lot of stuff that people want too.
On the other hand. This is a chance for a new programmer.
It would be really easy to get a lot of folks who wants to change their product to a new one to where new features will be implemented within a reasonable time.
And I suppose, as You said bartmanekul, features what are missing in this case are really not too difficult to code. Like in most other casesas well.
Through this kind o a forum a new GOOD program with useful features will spread quite fast.
I'd change right away to an other one if I could be sure that they would be doing that software to a customer - not for themselves.
I now have screenshots working on my phone, due to the updated version.
So if anyone wants a screenie of something specific in navigon (or viewranger, or anything else on a 6110 navigator) just ask and I shall oblige.

Navigon tries to connect via bluetooth to a GPS receiver, but I don't know how to select the internal GPS, I cannot find that option at all.Can someone tell me how to select the internal GPS of N95 within Navigon? The Navigon MobileNavigator version I am using is the 6.3.50.
can u tell me what folder the maps has to go in on sd card for n95
thanks
dave
The map file must be located in e:\System\Apps\Navigon\Maps folder, where e: shoud be your sd card. Note that System is a hidden folder.
are the Navigon PDA / PNA maps compatible to use with Navigon Mobile Navigator Symbian ?
thanks
Cant you just buy it for once?
bartmanekul wrote:Cant you just buy it for once?
thank you kindly for your generous valuable input yet once again
Well tbh it annoys me, when I pay for these things legitimatly. I know it goes on, but it bugs me when your constantly doing it on forums like this. Should be on lesser forums really.
I figure if your asking for pirate software on here for something Ive bought, the least I can do is voice my annoyance.
Its either that or I hit the report post button.

did you read my question champ ?
where do I mention pirate ?
why are you ASSUMING yet again ?
I'm sooooooo sorry that it bugs you. If it BUGS you sooooooooo much, then don't read the thread, no one is forcing you.
Love,
Monica
p.s. when you hit the "report" button, tell them Monica says "Hi" 😉
I dont want a fight monica, Im allowed to be annoyed when you keep peddling pirate software (route66 threads).
Im reading this thread because its about navigon working on the N95, which I have. I stopped reading the route66 threads because it did bug me.
why are you ASSUMING yet again ?
Why would you want PDA maps for the symbian version? Its well known that PDA versions of software is much more widespread than symbian. But if you have a reason, share it with us and if its genuine I'll be happy to help.
Btw I assumed right about the tomtom patch eh?
I know this might seem snotty, but when I have paid 70 odd for something and your trolling about trying to get it for free, maybe you can see where Im coming from. Your the reason people that pay for it have to go through annoying activation processes.
Im not asking much, just to keep requests for pirate software (or info on how to use pirate software) off these boards.
I love anti-piracy zealots.
I love to laugh at them when i spend my saved cash on booze, petrol and crisps.
Not necessarily at the same time mind you.

hahaha toooooo funny
bartmanekul, check your pm my friend
Errr, I did. Your saying you have proof of the tomtom patch then? Perhaps you would like to share it with the rest of the forum? If not, end of discussion. I dont want that subject to pollute other useful threads.
all I said is that you are wrong my friend....
just give it some time my fine friend....it will all work out in the end 😊
Yea, fine. Subject closed as far as Im concerned. In the event of it appearing I'll say Im wrong, but unless that happens, its just hot air. Why you beleive it is totally beyond me, unless you know something no-one else on the forum knows, which you cant share, and Im guessing you cant even tell us why you cant share it. 🙄
'Give it some time'? Im betting you cant tell me how much time, what a suprise there. No-one on this forum will beleive you unless you back it up.
So what was the reason you wanted to know about the compatibility of PDA maps? Like I said, if its genuine, I'll help.
bartmanekul, thanks for your generous offer for help, but I've got it all figured out now 😉
thanks again
Nothing to back up your claims then? Thought not. :boring:
just give it some time my fine friend....it will all work out in the end 😊
