As the title says. Is the only difference between the 'standard' GPS and A-GPS the fact that the phone uses a small ammount of data transmitted (5kb ?) from the phone network to enable your position to be fixed quicker. If this is the case and the setting stopping acces to the networks is nabled, then I assume the faster GPS position fixing won't happen. Is there any other reason to upgrade to software V12 from 11 ?

....And, disabling network access from Nokia Maps will NOT have any effect on A-GPS ability to access network and send/recieve info (hence, if A-GPS is enabled in phone settings it will connect independently of 'network setting' in N.Maps).
- The 'access network' settings in application Nokia Maps only has effect on this applications ability to check for map updates, POI's etc..
To use GPS at all, 'Internal GPS' (..or Bluetooth GPS) has to be enabled. A-GPS = Assisted GPS => Assists the Internal (..or BT..) GPS in getting a quicker fix. You can of course disable A-GPS but I don't see any reason why you should (it uses very small amount of data, some 5kb/session) exept if your roaming or have a very expensive data charge (..heard of some that has a "minimum charge" of 200kb for every connection. Hence, even thoug A-GPS only uses 5kb you will be charged for 200kb by your network operator.

Just uses your normal data connection AFAIK.
Just in terms of cost, if you are a T-Mobile PAYG user then from soon using A-GPS will cost you a quid becuase there will be a �1 charge for any amount of data usage per day, even 5kb.
Of course, if you have already used the connection in that day then it will not cost anything extra.
