As people are so picky about their satnav (me especially) I was just wondering what features people want.
Myself:
Options, and a good menu system.
Favourites, and the ability to edit them and also update by whichever means (current position, new address etc etc).
Choice of options on screen. Speed, time remaining, time to next instruction, next instruction, time remaining on journey, length left of journey etc. Obviously all these are not possible on a small screen, but I like the choice.
Good routing. This is utterly essential.
Well written software. By this I mean instructions at the right time. For example, you dont want to be told to bear left when its only a tight corner.
The option to add a destination by a point on the map. Obviously this involves the ability to scroll across the map also.
Able to add your own POI, and the ability to alert you when they are on your route and your near one (speed cameras and petrol stations for example).
The ability to easily send your location, or a location from your favourites to someone with the same satnav (via mobile phone text/mms).
Icons on screen -
battery meter.
Satellite lock meter. Navigon only has a little symbol, which is either red or white. I much prefer bars so you know how good your lock is.
I think thats about it.
Some of it is real small stuff, but makes a huge difference.
