Hi guys, good forum, long term lurker and new poster.
Thought I had been lucky with my orange branded n95, managed to change product code and upgraded to latest generic firmware easily, and everything on the phone seem to work excellently. My battery even lasts at least 36 hours between chargers with normal daily call useage.
Then I found a fault. My camera doesn't work properly. In short, I can't focus on anything more than a few meters away. I have trawled the net, and this seems quite a common hardware problem, fixed only by swapping the faulty unit for another.
Thing is I would now like to return my phone to the previous orange firmware, before it goes back to orange for replacement. I did note down the orange product code before I changed it, and I did make a complete back-up of the phone at this time.
Can I just change the code back then run the back-up utility, or will the firmware remain generic Nokia?
Cheers for any advice - this phone feels like the first ever really multiply capable toy I have had - and I can't live with the camera bit not working ( I am expert at losing seperate digital camera's, but seem to have only lost one phone in over ten years).
Part of the Symbian security is that you can't downgrade firmware.
I think you can install different firware of the same verion number, which means you'll have to wait until Orange bring out their own v12 firmware.

Change the product code back to the original number (written behind the battery compartment) then take the handset to a Nokia Care Centre, instead of sending it back to Orange. The NCC will not care about the FW installed, they will probably re-flash it then fix the fault.

O.k. Will they charge for this? Phone is less than two weeks old.

You have a 2 year warranty with Nokia in Europe. Just take the delivery note that came from Orange, in case they ask for proof of purchase.
