New official Orange UK firmware

😮
I am surprised (pleasantly)! Orange don't seem to ever do this! Looks like they're messing with the phone less (my first Orange phone without Homescreen 😎 !), and they're approving the new firmware quicker (or at all - a few of my phones never got an Orange approved update) :icon14: . All they have to do now is take off the last few customisations (I don't mind the label on my phone or a few browser links, but please don't screw the already quite unstable firmware), and make a bit of an effort to keep up with the latest firmware releases.

It may have taken several years, but it would appear that Orange are finally having the wax syringed out of their ears and actually listening to their customers!

I thought this was going to be the 12.x firmware 😞

My Orange N95 already has 11.0.026, I got it from Orange directly about a month ago.

Took them long enough, though i would of thought it would of been updated to v12 as thats the newest firmware

Glad I changed my product code

Just change your product code to generic european and lose all these problems
unless you use line2 on orange, then your screwed

Hi All,

I should of asked before I did it can some one please confirm the changes made by orange.

I had an N80 before this one and it had that annoying feature you had to push 2 or 3 buttons before it could take a second photo..

Now after firmware update my N95 has aquired this. Is there a setting that needs changing or have I just b*^&red a perfectly good camera?

What other changes are there? Or should I not ask...

While Im on the rant and rave Can I remove Photography some how? (I think this is the guilty party?)

The other one I would like to get rid of is Life Blogg.

Or do I get back to the UK and complain to Orange?

I havent tryed the Improved GPS but then it was good enough for me before!

Maybe I should have left alone? But I read some where the pictures are better as well?

Well if some one could advise? I wana stop those silly messages "Upload to my album" "Send to friend" "Blog" Etc.

I just dont and will NEVER want to do it so I dont want to see the Option. I just want to take another picture, is it to much to ask? Strangly I can live with all the other Orange stuff, but that is just annoying.

Well gripe over can some one PLEASE HELP.

Many Thanks

Gerrit

Just go into the Orange Photography application (should be in the Applications folder) and under options, settings set the camera prompt to off. I have also set auto start to off. Or you can completely remove it by going into Tools, App Mgr, selecting it and then going options, remove. As far as Nokia Lifeblog is concerned you can also just remove it. There will not be improved GPS with this v11 firmware as it does not include assisted GPS (in v12)

Question to those that have debranded their Orange N95:

What happens to the Orange Internet settings? Can you still access 3G+ and GPRS without having to do anything? (I noticed that the Settings here are locked and you can't view them).

Does Orange World still work correctly after the flash? I upgraded the firmware on my previous phone (m5000) and Orange world didn't work properly after that, even when returning to the official Orange firmware.

A second line on your phone assigned a different phone number which can be billed separately. Useful to separate work and personal calls.

Same as in the official Nokia change log listed in the latest firmware sticky. I have installed and no VOIP (don't expect to be there ever actually!)

jdushe, Thanks for the help, I can use the camera again. Ive also Removed photography, I said no to most of the options and that went.

That only leaves life blog which does not seem to have a place in the Application Manager? Well if some can advise itr would be great but as it stands, I just did not look hard enough. Which makes me more apprechiative of your help.
