gps on e90 and n95 different?

5 replies · 3,703 views · Started 15 August 2007

i have both e90 and n95 and am thinking of selling my n95 because it is pretty much the same as my e90 but 1 query though

on my n95, there is an option on the gps that says tracking. it guides me through the place i am going to but without voice guidance. on the map it shows where i am and provides a highlight of the route i am going to.

on my e90, it only shows where i am and it doesn't highlight my route.

is this normal?

from my point of view the e90 gps is still a faulty feature that needs a lot of improvement.

Tried 10 times to use it but no way I can get gps signal.

So- I can`t use it.

Anyhow, phone is a phone, GPS is GPS.
diferent devices can make driving pleasant...

It can take a very long time to lock in on a satelite the first time you use it in a specific area, but it improves with use.

When I first got my E-90 I didnt believe that it worked either because I am used to the speed of a dedicated GPS unit. But after leaving the phone in my pocket with the maps-application open for a while I suddenly discovered that it was locked in and showed my actual position. And the next time I was able to get a lock in about a minute.

So open Maps and leave it open while you take the dog for walk - then you'll see...

My understanding is that the hardware is the same. The aerials may be positioned differently which might have an impact. Make sure you have A-GPS on and set up as this can make a very significant difference.

I was a Tomtom GPS user, and when I started to use the E90 GPS and Maps software, I send an e-mail to Tomtom saying: "Please work on the compatibility of your software and Nokia E90".

After some weeks of using E90, I can say that if Nokia improves somethings in this software, they can have a nice navigation software.

I sent some questions to Nokia about Maps:
1- Import of Tomtom (or other) POI's...
2- Taking too long for planning a route...
3- Sometimes the E90 power of when searching for some streets...
4- Not enough intuitive menus...

I am waiting for the answer. I wil feed back to AAS Forum when I got it.
