Below is the official press release from Nokia announcing, among other things, the N81 and N95 in 8GB versions. I'll add glossy photos in a moment. Rafe and Ewan will add hands-on photos during the day in the main Flickr stream at the top of the AAS front page.

Read on in the full article.

From the blurb, I get "bigger screen, same resolution".
Yes?
Hmmm.
Any idea of the output resolution being greater for driving moniters/video displays at more useful screen real estate specs?
And something else nagging at me for a while now that an answer has yet to surface for.
Can Bluetooth keyboard support incorporate a pointer of some ilk?
S60 supports touch screen interfaces so why not a pointer?

Can I just remind everyone that there are regular updates on the latest info about Next Gen N-Gage games over at AAS's newly-renovated sister site All About N-Gage:

"Can Bluetooth keyboard support incorporate a pointer of some ilk?

I've been calling for a pointer for some weeks now in AAS's features on TV Out functionality in the N95.

The best answer IMHO was made by one of our readers, who pointed out that the cameras on S60 phones can already function as PC mice when they have a special application installed. If a similar application was installed, they should be able to function as S60 mice too. It would cost nothing extra, and instantly allow all S60 devices with TV Out to have built-in mice too.

Steve plz any idea about RAM and battery improvement on the new N95 8GB? wow and wow.

From the info so far it appears that only N-series products are supported by the music store? So will non-N series users (ie 6120 classic , full s60 3rd edition phone but not N labelled) be left outside this new experience!

The N95 8GB is QVGA, according to the 'get N-Gage' section of the N-Gage website (grr, can't post a link).

I find the mention of up to 100MB confusing; that's presumably the internal disk, not the RAM?

N95 8Gb - what a waste... same old and boring resolution. I still prefer an N80:frown:

According to these specs, the screen is exactly the same with the classic N95's screen, except the dimensions, i.e. they are both QVGA (240 x 320 pixels) TFT display with ambient light detector and up to 16 million colors. One is 2.6" and the other is 2.8".

Nokia considers the screen of the N95 8GB as "stunning" and "luminous". Yet I do not see any difference in terms of the visual quality of the screen. It is for sure 2.8" screen is stunning, but it seems that the classic N95 and N95 8GB is very same in terms of being luminous.

Hopefully battery would be in accordance with the specs, because since the screen is bigger, it would deplete the battery more...

There is nothing about the RAM. I wish Nokia improved it!

forum nokia about the RAM on N95 8GB: SDRAM Memory: 128 MB; ~90 MB Free Executable RAM Memory instead of the older N95 having: SDRAM Memory: 64 MB; ~18 MB Free Executable RAM Memory

These new phones look great.

The ram issue has been finally fixed:

90MB free for apps!

I must be dreaming a N95 with a 8GB flash memory,1200mAh battery, bigger 2.8' screen, attractive redesign black housing and (the best bit) 90mb free RAM!Brilliant work Nokia, let me applaude you.The N95 is the killer phone of 2008 (well until its succesor comes out). The N81 also looks impressive for what it is,but gsmarena says the phone has no Edge (really bad if true) & IR,but has VGA video recording @ 15 fps.Any news on the processor used & free RAM on the N81?And where is the N82 (N73 succesor)?

I see that the phone that most people are excited about in the n95 8GB. Just shows that 'muscle' matters...

has anyone noticed the upper part of the N81's screen where there are two buttons? im just wondering because in some pictures its just plain.

and aside from Black N95, there is also COCOA BROWN N95.

I do like the look of the N81, I think the killer question for those of us long suffering N80 users is (or at least this one in particular), have they vastly improved the battery life?

I'm not sure the N81 is a successor to the N80 - it seems more of a cross between an N95 and an N91 to me with a big of N-gage thrown in.

Will look forward to AAS getting their hands on one for a proper review...

Fed up with my N80, it put me off the N95 as the battery life was even worse. N80's tiny high resolution screen (whose brightness I kept to a minimum to ensure it didn't run out of power), with low RAM causing the otherwise amazing browser and other apps to close whenever they wanted... So I jumped ship to SE.

My P1i is a shining example of how more RAM helps usability and multitasking (are you listening, Nokia?) benefitting from bug-testing by P990i owners, also very stable. Slimmer, better built and superior battery life than the N95 too.

Nokia seem to cost-cut in very telling places, and it does mar otherwise excellent handsets.

That´s not what a phone battery should be, but at least there is a new accessorie for that - Nokia Power Pack DC-1🙄
By the way, tell more about P1i... may be better, and at least is more cheap than N95.

Am happy about the following features in the N95 8GB version:

1. Better battery
2. Great RAM
3. Larger screen (does it really make a difference though !! ?)

but unhappy over the following:

1. No camera lens cover
2. Black colour is not all that good. Need more colours. The silver panel on the
old version looks much better in my opinion.
3. No SD memory slot

:icon4: Whats the name of the game being played in the 2nd Image of N81 phone ? Have the N-gage platform games been released ?

Great phone. I love my n95.
But
why oh why
no lens cap ....I wouldn't touch it
....one scratch in the pocket
and money $$$$$$$ wasted....
