Just wait a little while longer and U will B pleased......
I have a question to the "owner" of Quake version for Symbian.
Is it possible to change a sound volume in the next possible version of game, so that it was not so loud when a slider is on the first position?
I'm asking, as I can't play it at work, being unnoticed by my boss 😊

I agree. The first position on the slider is far too loud. I can't play in the same room as my baby daughter (5 months), as for some reason the sound scares her to bits.

And what would be a better minimum volume level? The current minimum is 0.10000. Please experiment a little bit in the console with "volume" (ie. "volume 0.05000"😉 command and tell me what would be better....
Yes, I think the sound volume could be twice more quiet at the first position, and then gradually (fluently) could increase up to the same level as it is at the moment on the max. position (in similar way to the CD volume).
Other guys, please confirm.

The version is allready updated and so u CAN change the volume of the game...
Version 1.01
The minimum volume is too loud indeed, perhaps something like 0.01000, for example, try playing a song in the music player, with volume set to 10% and the equalizer like this:

That volume should be the minimum setting in quake, just so you can hear in a quiet environment.
Im still having problems getting it going, transferred the .sisx file to root. Created quake 1 > ID1 > pak0.pak. Installed pips, and installed the sisx file. Where am i going wrong?

Sorry for the delay, it took me a while to work out how to use the console
Anyway, after experimenting, I would say that volume 0.005 is probably what is required for the quietest setting, though I'd probably accept 0.01 if it was felt the 0.005 was too quiet. At 0.005 I can hear it comfortably in a quiet environment, without fear of others being aware of what is going on. 😉
Hi gang,
just grapped the latest quake maps and they rock on the N95..
2 out of the 15 don't work due 2 memory issues....
Because they came from forum wich have C*****d stuff on it I think I am not allowed 2 post my link here?!
MayB some of U guys also now were they can get it from
bump!
no news?
All I can say is WOW! 😮
This is awesome work. Yet another thing to show off to my mates and make them envious of the N95.
I have only played a bit of the shareware level at work but I have the full game at home so will be popping that on when I get in. I can't wait to see what else you might be brewing up!
Finally managed to get 1.02 out of the owen, head to my homepage for downloads and changelog.
No need for an N95 guys, works great on a 6120 Classic too, full frame rate, no probs. I just followed the instructions re: install, and I downloaded the v.1.02 for no FPU version (FPU version doesn't work). You get full stereo sound effects on the headset too. Amazing how quick the processor in the 6120 is, but the handset runs quite warm after a while.
I saw mention of being able to rotate the screen, I guess this is N95 only as couldn't see a way on the 6120?
ajck wrote:No need for an N95 guys
But given that this is an N95 forum, most people have one 😊

Ditto, hence it was mentioned in the N95 forum, where it is possible. 😉
wow....it looks great.....
any plans to get it working in opengl (n95).....from what i remember the original quake could be "modified" so that it actually used opengl, any plans to get quake working with opengl......maybe call it Quake3D???

The problem is once again being the memory. N95 classic does not have enough memory to run the game with hardware acceleration...
maybe a Quake 2 port like what you said before? hehehe..
hopefully the next firmware of the N95 will have virtual memory - so you may be able to squeeze these in this way.. 😊
Installed the new version on my 6110, still the same problems. Cannot activate any menu options after playing, meaning I have to hold the power button down to turn off the phone. I could just leave it running of course, but its bit of a ram hog on that phone!
Great project.
I'd suggest utilizing the accelerometer API for controls such as aim and movements.
Would work great when the device is pluged to the tv.

That would be pimp
now that we have demand paging is there any chance of opengl quake?
Thanks

No. Being the employer of a bunch of women sold into sexual slavery would be pimp.
🙄

Sense of humour failure?
Pimp can also be used as a verb such as "You're pimped up!" or "Pimp my ride." The latter example refers to customizing an automobile, made popular by the show Pimp My Ride on MTV. It can also be used as an adjective connoting the same, i.e. "Man, that car's pimp!" Either use was originally a derogatory term, implying that the subject was overly decorated and tacky (referring to the stereotype of pimps with excessive jewelry, flashy clothes, or brightly colored cars with animal-print upholstery and crystal chandeliers). It was eventually reclaimed as an American slang term for being unique, "cool" or socially desirable, in much the same way as the term "ghetto fabulous"
So there
3Shirts wrote:Sense of humour failure?
Overly sensitive? I thought the emoticon at the bottom of his post was intending to show a degree of humour. Then again, I don't know why I'm getting into this, as (a) I can't stand American slang (or American English) and (b) it was unclear whether the original/corrected versions were nouns or verbs (a pimp or, to pimp). [ 😉 ]
Yeah, he was probably being silly but so was I (intending to be :embarasse )
Anyway, has anyone noticed any improvement in Quake on the new firmware? I played it briefly and it seemed much the same. Dunno what I was expecting really, it was always very slick

Well, you might not get the RAM warnings anymore. On the busier levels, I get a little RAM chip icon briefly flashing (which I'm assuming is a warning that RAM is running low).
