Ok I have the opposite problem; My internal GPS works ok, however I am trying to get my external bluetooth GPS to work for better reception. Keeps saying it cant find gps device, any ideas?

Here is a picture if it helps?

Attachments: N95_GPS.jpg

can you help as to what you did to make it work?
Mine has this option to pair to a new gps and it never finds anything. Above that it also says 'Connection allowed to Garmin GPS device only'

This would mean you have the unregistered version. You would need to purchase the full version from Garmin.

that this is done >

Turn ON the phone's bluetooth!

* Accept security warning.
* choose settings (Inställn.)
* Choose 2. System (system)
* Choose 1. External GPS (Extern GPS)
* Choose 2. Use connected GPS (Använd ansluten GPS)
* Activate (Aktivera)
* Ready (Klar)

worked for me 😉

Cheers :tongue:

For some reason Wordpad doesn't work when you create the SW.UNL and GMAPSUPP.UNL files. Probably due to the default encoding or whatever, but it took me two hours just to figure that out. Use Notepad!

hi guys.
been trying all day to get this to work. still wont find gps. using latest version from web. all codes right.
any ideas.
cheers

Edited.

I have version 4.10.40s60.9, works well, though I've noticed a few issues, just wondering if anyone else has had the following:

Twice now I've had the application lose all my custom settings, points of interest, locations, contacts, etc. The first time the program crashed out all on its own, the second time was simply after shutting down the app and restarting. I haven't been able to reproduce the problem, though both times I did have active routes going.

Altitude is not displayed. Anywhere. The documentation vaguely says it should be in the trip computer. Sadly not there for me.

Please could somebody guide me in the direction to get maps for this garmin software. It does not have any maps on it.
Thanks

For Munna and anyone else interested:

Go to the garmin website here: http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=010-00580-00

Download all the 'Additional' files and install. They will give you a world map with non-routing roads, plus voice and help files.

Maps can be had at:
http://www8.garmin.com/cartography/ontheRoad/

If maps don't exist for your region of interest, or you just don't want to pay, try browsing this site for free alternatives, many of these provide turn by turn navigation: http://mapcenter2.cgpsmapper.com/

There are a few mapping apps available to send these alternatives to your phone, mapsource is probably the easiest to use. It's not always quite a straight forward download -> install to get mapsource working with other data sources, you have to tweak the registry in some cases. I'm a little lazy to write a tutorial on it right now though.

I have just installed the maps, but it is still saying 'detailed maps are required'!??!? Where am i going wrong?

Going back to internal GPS, mines still looking for GPS! I have copied that sw.unl file into memory card but still not working. Any ideas?

Does anyone know how to install custome vehicles on to this version of Garmin for N95?

i have downloaded all vehicles from garmin website and know it works as i have seen a video on Utube showing garmin running with custom vehicle.

I tried creating folder in garmin folder called "vehicle" and copying one of the vehicles in there but nothing seems to have changed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Picto.....:con?

The folder is uppercase for me "VEHICLE". It has a bunch of .srf files in there of the different vehicle types, and works fine.

You need to be using version 4.10.60 for it to work, unfortunately that version is not officially out yet - only in a hacket version made from 4.10.40 and an asian demo version of 4.10.60

I'm waiting for an official release from Garmin myself.

This thread is PURE GOLD!

Anyway, can somebody tell me if it's possible to use GMXT in landscape mode (on, for example, N95 8GB)?

Works fine in landscape mode on my original N95, don't see any reason why it wouldn't work on the 8Gb version too

I've tested the Garmin Mobile XT software on three Nokia phones: N82, 6110 Navigator and E90. Unfortunately the Garmin software won't work perfectly on these phones as they have S60 Feature Pack 1 (i.e. they don't have the "pen" key).

The Mobile XT itself works beautifully and it finds the internal GPS just fine on the models mentioned above. But the text input modes of the phone and especially the select (#) key functionality will get screwed up. When I type an SMS and try to move inside the text with the cursor key, the phone starts to think I'm pressing the # key even if I'm not, and starts to highlight the word for copy/paste operation. The left menu key changes to "copy". This behaviour starts after I press the # key once in the text input mode. However, when I press the # key and hold it down, the phone behaves normally as if the key weren't pressed, and I can move the cursor within the text normally. Also the soft meny keys change back to normal when I keep the # key down.

In a Nokia S60 3rd edition phone that has the simplified "no pen key" user interface (FP1), the shift/select (#) key states "up" and "down" will get reversed in text input mode when Garmin Mobile XT is installed. The text input functionality returns to normal when Mobile XT is uninstalled.

Based on my tests with two different Nokia phones, I can safely say that even the newest Garmin Mobile XT version 4.10.60 is not compatible with S60 3rd edition phones that don't have the "pen" key. These models are e.g. N82, 6110 Navigator, 6120 classic, E65 and E90. You'll need the "pen" key in your phone if you're going to be happy with Garmin Mobile XT.

Let's hope someone from Garmin reads my rant and forwards it to the Bug Fixing department... 😊

I found this on you tube and it shows some guy in Africa, i think, with garmin Mobile XT on an N95 with a non standard vehicle icon.

I will have to try find that v60 for myself.

Hi Tony

How do you select the new vehicle?

Is there supposed to be a menu option?

If so where is it?

Thanks
