Is there an application that can read out texts like on the Nokia 5500 Sport? Wonder if Nokia had ported it to their other phones.

Thanks

You dont have it on the N95?

You should do, I have it on the 6110 (same OS as N95).

go to your inbox.

do not go into the message.

highlight the message you want read.

'options'

'Listen'

Will do it.

Nope it's not there on mine either and I run V12.013

So it obviously exists anyway we can get it on the N95?

Im really confused, how was it left out? Especially with the new firmware.

The 6110 runs S60 V3 with SP1. Thats exactly what the N95 is isnt it?

Bit more research and I've found that there is MobiCrac SMSTalk. Anyone used it? Just need something for when I'm in the car.

Thanks

had sms talk not sure what company done it for my 6680 brilliant, but this one
is on handango software and not good reviews. i would love it for my N95

I saw a tool in the Download! application that said it would read SMS messages and seemed to be free. Can't remember what category it was under. Perhaps it was just a trial, but might be worth a try.

Yep, if you go into 'Download' and then 'Services UK' there is a tool called Speech2Go which reads incoming callers (although the N95 already does that) and SMS messages.

There is a 2 day trial, then it's £1.50 for a 30 day license or £6.50 for the full license.

Speech2Go - Just downloaded this - Cool app :icon14:

(I just googled it and downloaded it from the publishers web site and installed to my N95 from my PC)

just got it from the site, on trial, seems ok do you get different voices if you buy it, also i dont even have to get up out my chair if my phone is on the other side of the room just reads out the texts, also i have my phone set for read out caller so i know even who is calling me whatever next

Am annoyed by this, some series 60 phones, eg. E65 have this built in, some don't.
I was really annoyed when I paid all that money for their flag ship device, an N95 not to have all the available software that other cheaper S60 phones have. Why can't Nokia get their act together and standise this.

I see your point but if they did bundle everything we'd be complaining that they used up so much space/RAM with stuff we don't want.

There should be freely downloadable 'modules' though so you can go on Nokia's website and add the ones you want. I would want the text to speech but not the search thing (that I have to spend 20 minutes remving every firmware upgrade!😡 )

I like it. It is quite nice, too, that when you switch to silent it automatically disables itself.
