please could you or any one else make clear how to remove the announcement WLAN scan from the display of a nokia n95? thanks

people ask for everyting like this, like that, how come this, taht so many questions. ..like the memory card transfering issues, just take the miniusb cord, plug it to the pc's usb the transfer pics, vids, song, and print your pics. .. and the video editor, just transfer it to computer, use any video editor available in the web to edit your videos much better and nicer, why dosen't make it your self n95-8gb is a great smart fone, it can do many things in one pack, ..the "oh the camera covers are gone, why?" many fones are no covers in their lens but does not have scratch at all, just simply protect it.. but many users are so ignorant and so fuckin lame that they running by their fones, and not the fones are running by them.. .

Nice phone, rubbish battery. Don't go anywhere with out a spare one!

I have just received my N95 8GB from Orange and I must say, I am seriously impressed.

A phone with much more capabilities, improved performance from the original N95 and the photo quality is really good. Everybody has their own opinion's based on their own experience but this phone must be reviewed only if you can 'step out of the box'.

With the new, slick, black finish, the N95 8GB is truly the best phone on the market. Even with its overloaded functionality, it still seems to be very light and yes I do agree, it can easily slip out of your hands so be careful!!

Coming from a pure Nokia background, I must say, this has to be the best Nokia handset I have ever used.

A double :icon14::icon14: from me!!

I completely agree with you; its so much more then a phone, its a pda, satnav, advanced mobile.

without dragging myself into a fan-boy apple debate, I'd say the following:

If you use apple software (ie already have itunes) and would prefer a thinner, and honestly better looking phone, then i'd recomend the iPhone, especialy if you like the touch-screen. Also, although i don't know much about what apps you can run on OSX, the iPhone has a faster processor. It also recently beat the N95 in an ease of usability study.

The N95 8GB, which i own, is better if you prefer more freedom with what you want to do with it. Unlike the iPhone you can get it on almost any network, and as far as i'm aware the OS is more flexible than that of the iPhone's. It is slightly less powerful, but unless you plan on doing alot with your phone you probably won't notice. Also, i much prefer real buttons to a touch-screen.

It's entirely up to you. They're both good phones.

nice review

question:

can you use th e old N95 battery as a spare for th N95 8gb?

cheers

so overal the nokia n95 8gb is it a gd phone or bad phone iv got it on order should b getting it tmz

I think that Nokia N95 8GB is the best mobile phone i have ever seen. Its technical characteristics are more then impressive. But one thing borders me, its to high price. It could be a little lower, but everything else is just fascinating.

Does the Nokia N95 8GB have TV-Out?
Also, what is TV-Out?
Thankyou!

Had Nokia phones for as long as I can remember. I bought the original N95 not long after it came out. I was totally awstruck but it did not last long. I am one of these 'heavy users' I suffered for many months and was constantly checking the nokia website to see if there were updates that would fix this. At this time I bought a spare battery from nokia for 25 which frankly is a rip off. I got more and more annoyed that nokia was not taking this issue seriously. Then out comes the N95-8Gb I looked at the specs and was not supprised in the least to notice that the battery had not been improved by nearly enough. I bought an 'unbranded' and probably explosive battery for my N95 and I rue the day it breaks. I can't imagine a better phone.

I'll stick with my N95 instead of N95-8gb because....

I'd have to buy another unbranded battery as they have not understood the scale of the problem. Done precious little to improve it.

I use an 8gb microsd and it means I can just pop it out put it in my laptop and voila in a minute or 2 I have copied a huge pile of mp3's (doing this by cable is SLOW, doing this with bluetooth is an overnight job) oh and I'll be able to grab one of those juicy 16gb ones in late autumn.

Ermmmm. Lens protector ? WHAT !! I got it nokia. The battery life joke was caused by those silly people who really enjoy taking pictures wasn't it. So you take away the lens cover so when after the first month the lens is scratched they will stop using it. cute trick.

In conclusion my disappointment with nokia is profound. I will not buy another phone from Nokia. Or it will be a cold day in hell before I do. The really crazy thing about it is I am in love with my pregnant n95(big battery bump) it never lets me down. Its a work horse and a really reliable one. The issue I guess is trust. Nokia let me down badly. Not by making an absolute dog of a phone but by making a really amazing one and not listening hard enough when it was failing in such a drastic way.

Its to great... to COOL, but all is not all new... OLD MENUS... OLD Themes... hope if half of 8GB memory is used it wont HANG... coz most of the NOkia Phones if 1/2 or 3/4 of the memory are used will HANG most of the time...

Hope we can watch TV in the cellphone just like China made phones that it only needs the antenna to scan channels available in the area then thats it I can already watch it to my phone without charges... If NOKIA is to Good why cant they make it... you need to fix it yet to your phone with the network provider if TV phone is available then it is also with CHARGES and it is charge per minute...

hello could you tell me if the nokia n95 or n95 8gb is better overall and does the d-pad on the nokia n95 8gb paint comes off?

Since the launching of the N95 models, I has been attracted to it until I finally own one and it really a fantastic phone. Almost all task can be done with it and the display is remarkable esspecially in the photos and video I taken. Surely this phone really step out among other models available.

Now with the launching of the new N95 8GB, I also able to own one and it also a remarkable phone esspecially with its big screen and stylish design. The only thing that might disappoint me is the lack of microSD slot and the shutter cover of the rear camera but the rest is awesome.

I my own personal opinion, the only device that might out stand this phone maybe the apple iPhone (maybe).

Good review.
I'm wondering if it was based on others' experience or you actually used one of these for more than a day? Why? Because I have a Nokia N95 8GB (NAM or N95-4 version). This is one of the worst phone I have ever had, and I had plenty.
Why? Because a phone is only good if you can use it and in this case he battery dies every day after barely using the phone - 1 hr talking. That's it, that's all it needs, an hour and it is dead. Since it is in a case it shuts off without me even noticing so I missed calls thanks to this overpriced calculator. I don't know maybe this is because of the fact that everything we got here in the US is cheap crap, no quality (clothing, cars, buildings..etc.) maybe only the NAM ver. is crap idk, but then there is the fact that no lens cover and the phone is a fingerprint magnet, slow, lugging software, takes several seconds just to start the phone from keylock. I click on contacts and takes 5 sec to start with only 20 ppl in it, btw I have the newest firmware. Called NOKIA USA and they said this phone has no auto rotate. A 500 USD (BestBuy sells it over 650) has no auto rotate in 2008. Bravo! It has 16mill color because there is absolutely no need for that, it has double slider because it is completely pointless but has no lens cover, slow, no auto rotate, the software is full w/ bugs, refuse to connect -no gw reply problem -, very expensive, browsing is a pain, gps slow, no card!, to transfer your content (pictures, music, movies..etc) you have to have a cable with you all the time, battery is only good for a day if barely use it, if you use the gps, wifi, and/or watching a 30 min movie you need to charge TWICE a day! I bought it because I belived in reviews like this one and can't stand the 2mp no AF crappy Iphone. They said this 95-4 is the king.. where? In ... (I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings) but unless you get it for free think twice or make sure you have a chance to return it before you commit to keep it.

good review steve. It was well set out and i quite enjoyed reading it. GOOD JOB!

This phone is not good. You can only use the Phone memory and not the 8 GB memory. You get about 750k of phone memory and this can be backed up to the 8GB but further backup overwrites the original backup. So you can only ever use less than 1 GB of the 8GB it claims to have.

To store music and video on the 8GB you have to upload it from your computer. The phone will not allow you to download over 1 GB via the phones wireless etc. If you are in to podcasts then this limitation is vital and crippling.

I listen to podcasts daily, record phone conversations, video and photos and I am not very happy that I can not use the full 8GB. I get messages that force me to delete treasured items so I can continue to use the phone.

I think the 8GB is misleading false advertising and I feel like writing to Nokia to demand my money back.

I've had my Nokia since January and I'm finding my screen keeps going blank.
Is this a fault with the 8GB?
It was working great then all of a sudden it went totally blank. I had to take out the battery, re-insert it and eventually it came back on. That was 5 days ago and it's still going blank.
Its as if theres a problem with the slide.
Anyone else having any problems?

Otherwise I love this phone.

Ive had the N95 nearly 2 years and still no problems. Honestly no scratch or dent. No paint falling off or anything. Battery is still the same and lasts for 5 days. It may sound like a lie but it aint. Its the best mobile phone ive ever had out of 5 mobiles. Rating for me 11 out of 10. Its that good

I have had the Nokia N95 8GB for a couple of years now and I find it a really good phone.

It does everything I want from a Smartphone and unlike the i-phone can run several apps at the same time.

I have had it playing MP3 songs, watching clips on mobile Youtube, playing games, web browsing with no real problems in terms of memory.

My phone is kept in a soft pouch style case so as this case is soft inside the exposed camera lens isn't scratched. I did drop the phone once but all that happened was a very small mark on the edge of the screen surround.

Yes I know it doesn't have a touchscreen but I am sure it is a more powerful phone than the i-phone.

- The keypad is cramped
- The T9 text entry is dreadful
- It loves to lump media files into one long, long list
- Built in browser is appallingly slow
- The headphone socket is in an odd place, and the remote cable doesn't have a right angle plug
- The active standby screen isn't very flexible.
- Has buttons I never use (did you know there was another gallery button on the side?)
- Can't select different tones for different alarms
- Slow USB
- No RDS

and I still think it's overall the best phone nokia have made.

- solidly built
- nice screen
- satisfying to hold
- can be used one handed
- great speakers
- usable camera
- quick GPS
- lots of good apps
- batteries ok (as long as you close apps properly)

So many things I don't like, and I'm still finding it hard to choose a replacement that can do so much.
