The latest version of Nokia's search tool (as seen in the Nseries N95 8GB and N81) is now available for download for a select number of handsets (N95, 6110, 6290, N76, 5700, 6120). In addition to the previous web and local search functionality the new version now offers more comprehensive in-device search. There's also support for continuous search with result updated as you enter your search term.

Too bad I cannot have it on my E61i...
There is one major problem with the new search app here - yell.com have not updated their software so you'll find that you will now lose this functionality - which is a shame as it's the one thing I used SEARCH for!
I've been to their site and the plug in is not compatible with my N95 8GB - VERY frustrating!!!!
Unfortunately updates don't fix this - it's been like this for the past 5 days since I've owned my new N95 8GB. Damn!!!
Installation note: you'll have to go into App Mgr and delete EVERY instance of 'Search' - if your N95 is like mine, there will be several entries! After this, Search v4 will finally install 8-)
"Stopped throwing up around..." ??
Does this have anything to do with the pub meet?? 😉
"Stopped throwing up around the time he passed out"
"Stopped throwing up around the toilet cubicle and moved onto the bar"
"Stopped throwing up around the officers feet"
guys ive heard that the active standby thingy works in the latest firmware of n76...........true ?
and guys im not able to install it on my 5700 , coz version 2.25 thats provided with the handset is located in the z: drive, so im not able to update it 😞 😞
i hope they'll put it in the new firmware , incase they ever release a firmware for this phone
It should work on the E61!
See compatibility on the download-site..
Why does it index only one phone number per contact? If a contact has more than one number assigned, like most of my contacts do, the search enables finding it only with one of the numbers... Is it supposed to be so, or there is some problem on my phone (N95 "classic"😉?!
I had 3.06 installed and tried to upgrade 4 over it. Well it didn't reallly go and ended up uninstalling every search related item before trying 4 again.
Have uninstalled all search bits and pieces but yell still not coming up. Steve can you use yell.com's search on your n95 8GB???
On testing out the Yahoo! search on on images I found it doen not display the thumbnails

No, you can't use Yell on the N95 8GB either.
Strangely enough, the loading time on the N95 is much much quicker than the N95 8GB
N95:2 seconds to start - versus - N95 8GB: 6 seconds to start
Takes a looooonnnng time to install
The N95 version works fine on the E90. I am not sure why they've not flagged it up on the site but I figured that (as with the older 3.06) so long as you install a S60 3.1 flagged version on any S60 3.1 phone, and stick to S60 3.0 builds (i.e. 3.06 only) for S60 3.0 phones, it'd be fine.
Installed it on my 6120 classic, and immediately decided that this will be a keeper! I showed it off to a colleague who's got a WM smartphone and he was positively jealous 😉 It's just like google desktop but then on your phone
why is it that when i install.....after 1 second...it says "installation complete"..after checking...nothing's been installed.....
Previous poster is correct that it indexes only ONE number per contact - whatever is the default for that contact.
All other numbers will be ignored and not found. Good one Nokia. Maybe you should have talked to the Symbian Developers first, to check the database structure. O hang on, you ARE the Symbian Developers.
ALSO, I have another problem on the N95:
If I use the search to find a Landmark, then select either "Show on Map" or "Navigate to", if I check using Task Manager I find that it has opened TWO copies of the Maps application!
