Dear All,
I hope someone can give me the correct advise.
I am purchasing a New N95 8GB on the vodafone network(UK) and would like to
1) Make the phone sim free
2) Access the Voip facility which has been removed by vodafone.
Am I correct in assuming that I can change the product code (New code: 0549487) and update the firmware inorder to achieve this by downloading and installing Nemesis Service Suite and the latest Nokia Software update.
If not, please can someone advise me aas to the correct procedure to follow.
Thank you in advance.
Sanjiv
unbranding the phone doesnt make it SIM free.... and only Voda can unlock that for you (for a fee) (Unless your out of contract)
Theres a wealth of information on this very forum... have a look.
Sorry, don't know if vodafone will sell you an unlocked phone at contract price, probably better off buying the phone outright.
Yes to everything else 😊
T-mobile will supply an unlock code after 3 months for a fee. Don't know about Voda but should be the same!

Voda will give you the unlock code for 20. Makes no difference if you are still in contract or not. I called the day after I signed up for my new contract. It took 3 days, then I got the code and the 20 was added to my bill.

this is correct. though i got my code from voda after 5 mins on the phone.
if you live in the u.k & would prefer the simfree version then the handset is available from carphone warehouse on an o2 contract or 449 on pay and go.
Hi everyone,
I was reading through this post and wanted to just clear up a few queries.
If a handset is locked to Vodafone we will happily provide the unlock code to you.
You will need an active Vodafone Sim card, if you dont have one you could purchase a Pay As You Talk (PAYT) Sim from the Vodafone website here for just 2.
To get the unlock code you can either contact Customer services on 08700 700 191 (national rate), 191 free of charge from your Vodafone handset or via email using the Vodafone online contact us form here.
You'll need to have the make and model of the handset and the IMEI number, to get this you can in put the code *#06# into the handset and the IMEI will be displayed on the screen.
For all handsets over 12 months old the unlock code will be provided free of charge, if the handset is under 12 months old there will be a one off charge of 20 (inc VAT.) If you have a PAYT account you will need to have the 20 available in calling credit.
We hold some unlock codes on our system and if this is the case we can provide it within minutes. If its not held in our database then we will need to request the code from the manufacturer this takes up to 72 hours, (Samsung can take longer.)
I hope this helps to clear up any confusion and that you are now able to get your phones unlocked.
Thanks
Gembo

Cheers gembo.
Grim/m15chief it does make a difference if you are in a contract, as gembo has just said.
