Display name in Messaging

I'm not sure, but when I got my E90 yesterday I'm pretty sure the names were displayed as "John Doe" in the messaging application.

I have them set to display First name Last name in the Contacts database, but they appear as Last name First Name in the messaging app. I can't find a way to change this, and I'm sure I remember it being correct yesterday.

I'm guessing I've changed some setting or other somewhere to alter the display, but I cannot find it again.

Could anyone point me in the right direction for the correct setting?

Cheers all.

I don't think you remember correctly. There doesn't seem to be control over that. Unless someone knows better...

Bigger issue for me, along a similar theme I think, is that when people phone/text me some of them always show up as their +44 number and not their name from the contacts, even if I place both the 'international' number and local number in two slots in their Contact card. Even when I go to the incoming message and chose 'save' as a new contact and insert their number *as offered* and delete their old card, when they next call, it still doesn't show their name. Can this *really* be a network issue? There seems to be a bit of a pattern with it happening when people from O2 call/text me, as absurd as that sounds, like it's something *their* end!

Any thoughts?

Tim

I would assume it plays the same as the N series so to get your messages to say they are from 1stname 2nd name you need to have both names in the first name field...

i.e. First Name: John Doe
Surname : {blank}

Then when you get a message from that contact it is displayed correctly. Ive only changed the ones I get messages off in the contacts list as its only about 5 percent of my list that sms me.
