Looks like this is the best forum for Symbian users, so I thought i'd say Hi!

I'm not new to phones or Symbian - I'm probably in a minority in having first tripped over Symbian's roots in the form of EPOC on the Psion MC400 - but I'm new to the E90, and writing a review of it.

When it comes to smartphones, I've tended to use Windows Mobile devices. The range of applications was quite impressive; stuff like Pocket Artist, and IRES, gave them fairly flexible applications in the photographic field.

My Ameo was killed in an accident, and I got an E90 as an upgrade from Vodafone. It's now unlocked, debranded and on T-Mobile (I still have an N73, replaced by Vodafone's insurance with the same accident).

I'll be hanging around a lot to learn about the E90 - and I'll hopefully have a review in print next month that gives an honest picture of how the E90 will work for professionals. I'm already finding the build and form factor a substantial upgrade from typical Windows Mobile fayre; I just need to get around the perception that this is an N73 with teeth ;D

Past phones I've used include all Communicators bar the 9300 and 9500 (though I have a 9500 to play with sorted out), and I've just reaquired a 9110i to refresh myself with the state of play a near decade ago; I had a 9000 when they were new! I've also owned various N-series and other Nokias, including the ringing taco that was the original N-Gage.

I've got a tech-review website; it's linked from my page. The only thing of interest to people there (possibly) will be my review of the Vulcan FlipStart V1.0, a 5.6" 1024 x 600 'UMPC' class device I plan on modifying with a 3G/HSDPA MiniPCI-E card - currently these are on sale from FlipStart for $699, making them something of a bargain. I'd appreciate comments when I do get the E90 review up in case I miss something!

Nice to have you here. Be sure to read through the E90 part of the forum, you could find some useful stuff in there.

Hi Richard.

You have definately found the right place for all S60 geekiness. It's all here in bucketloads.

Nice site you have there as well. I have one of those helicopter things, I think my cat enjoys trying to smash it out of the air, more than I enjoy playing with the damn thing!

Thanks! It needs a lot of work, at the moment I'm really trying to build up content. Because I'm covering Focus On Imaging right now, I'm not doing as much on the E90 as I should, but I'm getting very comfortable with it - it is a good little handset.

What I am wondering is if there are any photographer-specific utilities. Not Locr (though I'm going to write a bit about that in our print titles), but perhaps RAW file preview or WiFi connectivity with appropriate cameras for automatic tagging and the like.

My cat is terrified of the helicopter! Have you seen the battling ones? I found some on DealExtreme's website for about $35, but didn't order them yet since I'm waiting for a previous item to appear first (W100+ wristwatch/phone thing).

I'm tempted to look at their fake E90 (as marketed elsewhere, they don't pretend it is anything such), the ZZ8898 or whatever it is.
