N95 arrives tuesday - recommendations please.

Well, I have finally got round to upgrading my handset and the N95 arrives on Tuesday. I wanted the N95-8GB to begin with, mainly because of the storage and minor cosmetic changes (especially the black casing) but sadly, Orange UK don't offer the 8GB version, no idea why.

Well, I rang up last night and was told to ring back today as they had new offers for March starting and one inparticular that would make up for the ommision of the 8GB version. Sure enough, I was offered an N95 Classic with 8GB memory card included, the whole package for free ! Thank you very much 😊

I've been holding off until my contract was due and although I now see the N96, this isn't likely to be out till Q3, apparantly, and will probably incur an upgrade premium. So, the N95 will do me for another 18 months, I guess 😊

So my N73 will be passed on to the missus. I am completely familiar with the product code changing process and fully intend to change my N95 from a crippling Orange FW to a fully functional EURO1 type with v20 FW as soon as it arrives. I have also been out today and purchased the neat little leather wallet that Nokia do for it.

All I need to know now are what u you guys recommend as "must have" apps. I already have TomTom Navigator 6 which will be moved across to the new phone and I know that I will still have to use my external GPS. This isn't a problem as I have a 44 channel unit that outperforms the internal one, especially in the urban environments I find myself in. I have a number of applications for my N73 that I make good use of, both for business and pleasure. I predominantly use my N73 for keeping my calendar and contacts on, as well as the Music Player and Sat Nav.

I did have a go with the lightsabre app that was doing the rounds last year and that was neat, but ultimately a novelty 😉

Anything else you guys recommend ?

Thanks in advance.

Upgardes in N95 8GB are not just the cosmetic ones, there's a big progress, but anyway here is what I recommend:

emTube, Fring, Garmin Mobile XT, GLQuake, Worms World Party, ScummVM, Device Status, Xlator, Google Maps, Frozen Bubble, Chess Genius, Snakes, The Journey, Geocache Navigator, Y Browser, Wellnes Diary, World Mate, Activity Monitor, Sports Tracker, Nokia Audiobook, Movingball, S-Tris 2 and Internet Radio.

Thanks 😊 I'm fully aware of all the differences between the 2 models.

And I just noticed this thread, so apologies for creating a duplicate.

Bad case of the dumb today 😉

here is what I recommend,in no order:

apps:

msdict viewer for dictionaries
resco photo viewer
handy clock
handy weather
mobireader
worldmate
divx player or core player
advance device locks or advanced phone locks
cClock
internet radio
screenshot
lcg jukebox (depends on your needs, handy for lyrics support)
tom tom (if you have an external BT reciever)
xplore
fexplorer
handy taskman
device status or PhoNetInfo
SkyeQuiKey

also all the good accelerometer apps that require "signing" like rotateme, nokmote, rock 'n scroll, shake sms

unfortunately I also got my N95 8G 2 weeks ago,and thus have not been able to try the accelerometer due to the symbian signing site...but Monday...I am waiting

and symbian games I recommend:
global race
snakes
sil
ball rush aqua
system rush evo
paintball II
micropool
frozen bubble
k-rally
arcade park
quartz 2
mini blaster
final battle
worms world party
robo

and all the new N-Gage demo's...

Thanks for those hargs. It looks like I might need to simply get N95 versions of stuff I already have on my N73. Frozen Bubble has been a staple on my phone since it first came out 😊

Rotate Me looks great, but I'm put off by the whole signing process. Although things seem to be improving on that front.

I've just discovered Shozu, which I'm using on my N73 and can see this being even better on the N95 using WiFi 😊

Thanks again 😊
