anyone find the n95 classic of poor quality?

i personally find that the n95 classic is made of material very poor quality. the paint on my camera button is starting to wear off. those of the volume buttons also. the slider is not that tight. my screen has had to be replaced even if i took great care of it(btw does this happen to all slider phones or is it just restricte to the n95?)
what are your views? anyone got any other problems with their n95?

I've had my phone almost one year and no problems yet. (knocks on wood).
Sorry to hear about your issues.

Nearly 1 year old and solid as a rock. Very impressed, given the consistent use it gets. Only marks are a couple of scratches on the face after I dropped it down the back of the sofa (well, my 2 year old daughter did).

Hate to spoil the unbroken scoring run for the "no problems" team, but... 😉

I've just received my 9-month-old N95 back from two weeks away for repair (and let me say, I am really glad to have it back). In my case, it was the screen which failed, and I have read a number of other posts around here suggesting that this is not a rare problem with the N95. Maybe it's an inherent weakness with the 'slider' form factor, but I think next time I might choose a 'candybar'-type handset with less moving parts (as long as there is one with comparable features to what I have now).

Don't get me wrong - I am very attached to my N95 (and really missed it over the last fortnight), but I think it's only fair to point out that there do seem to be one or two weaknesses in the hardware, which may only now be emerging as the handsets start reaching their first birthdays...

The last slider phone I had was a 7650. I had it for 1 1/2 years at least and the slider was completely shot by the end of that period. I could barely use the joystick on the phone while it was open as it would push closed if i pressed down. I don't have this problem with my N95 but this is something which I'm starting to get concerned about now the N95 is coming of age.

I think when I upgrade again I'll get a candybar phone again, but I like the "look" of the N96 so I'd go for something that's similar to the N78 but with at least the specs of the N95.

Keeping in line with the thread though, my N95 is fine at the moment. The slider wiggles a little but it's been like that since day one, and there's a little scratch on the corner of the phone's housing. Other than that it's fine.

you are not the only one who feels that way,I feel that the quality of my N95 8GB is really crappy considering how much I paid for the phone, weak slider,...Nokia N-Series needs to take lessons form the E-Series division...:icon14:

When I first got mine there was a big gap on the left bottom side between the front and pack parts of the phone. Like something was jammed in there. The slider worked perfectly, just that it was raised by a half a millimeter in that corner only. Everywhere else fitted flush together.

Anyway, I slept on it a couple of weeks back by accident, the upshot was that the little gap was gone, the problem is it now makes a squeaking sound whenever the slider is closed. The front and back rub along the bottom edge.

It is pretty crappy workmanship though - the least they could have done was die the plastics the same color right through so that dropping or scratching could easily be buffed out.

My biggest gripe is that half the silver "paint" has rubbed off the centre button, leaving the lovely white plastic underneath.

Last time I had paint come off a button was my SE T68i, so it's a little disappointing.

Not sure if such things are warrantied though - sadly, I'd imagine not. *sigh*

the paint is now coming off my red button. i always carry it in the leather casing, so why is this happening?
is it because its MADE BY NOKIA instead MADE IN FINLAND?

the chrome coming off the buttons is also a problem on The N95 8GB mine started to come off after 2 weeks of buying it

both my n95's have done this, my gf's is worse than mine but it's all from playing games on it.

i've called o2 and asked them and they said "is the phone usable" i said yes but it looks crap. no joy there.
