I am an E70 user (held together with sellotape) and I had resigned myself to a defection to Windows Mobile as I thought that an E90 was out of my reach.
Although I was ready to go "sim free", a trip to a Vodafone shop today to upgrade my wife's handset revealed that I can have an E90 (for a sensible price).
So, questions.
Does it have a lanyard loop anywhere ?
One of the reasons I was going to go "sim free" was to ensure I was always "firmware current" (I know that there is later (better) firmware for my E70 but the NSA doesn't think so (and I don't want to get into product code changing). Is an E90 on VOdafone able to be "firmware current" ?
Finally, can I confirm that the internal GPS is able to work with 3rd party "turn by turn" navigation software.
TIA
There is no lanyard on the E90, though there are many different cases to be purchased.
The Current Vodafone firmware is the up-to-date version 7.40.12
you can use the Nokia Maps application for turn-by-turn for a fee. There's also route 66. For a free solution you can download Nav4All which offers basic though pretty competent turn-by-turn. There are probably other solutions out there but these are theones I know
I have Navicore 2007 and Wayfinder 7 working on my E90. Navicore has advantage of not needing internet access to work.
Hi... my contract is due for renewal with Voda. Can I ask what deal they offered you?
Garmin Mobile XT works fine on My (SIM Free) E90
Bob,
Does Garmin allow you to install it to your own large capacity card or are you stuck with swapping memory cards to use their supplied card ?
(I understand that this is a problem with the WM6 version of XT - I can't believe I was actually considering an HTC Kaiser !)
I've got Europe base map and England, Scotland and Wales high detail on my 8GB card.
I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to put other high detail maps on the same disk.
BTW I've got an HTC Kaiser - what a P.O.S. - it has the honour of being the device that finally prompted me to leave Pocket PC after 5 years (started with an XDA). S60 V3 is so much better, if initially a little frustrating to us power user types.
