If you like a clear screen and still want to use the "Active Standby" mode and maybe just have your calender entries on screen then Menu>Tools>Settings>General>Personalisation>Standby Mode>Active Standby Plugins - then choose what you want to appear or not. Screen looks great with only the Clock, Operator Logo, Date and calender entries showing - especially if you have a nice theme selected.
Like this :-

The screen will hold about 9 single line calender entries.
Brilliant 😮
The Active Standby plugins for the ESeries is one feature I'd love to see on NSeries phones. I really detest having my calendar appointments on the screen.
I have actually swapped from an N95 to one of these, due to the battery life and the active standby plugins, and the fact that the keypad and the camera shutter doesn't slide open everytime I take it out of my pocket! 😊
I've also just dropped an N95 8GB for the E51. I found the size saving was one benefit, I no longer use the media features on the NSeries as much as I used to, to justify keeoing the handset. Looking for an adequate alternative, the E51 ticked all the right boxes. Running the ESeries version of S60 which offers different messaging notification options, plus the wonderful Active Standby plugins. Add the inclusion of high speed data, WiFi, and a good battery life and there's not much else needed, if multimedia isn't that important to you.
I found over time I was using the camera less and less, no longer using the phone for music, nor podcasts. I just didn't need it anymore.
I'm with you guys - the benefits of owning the E51 far out-weigh any "negatives" of which I am unable to think of any AFAIK.
As you have already mentioned - the Active Standby plug-ins are fantastic - the speed is stunning - the text/messaging is great - and the phone itself is a real "beauty". :icon14:
