Had this on my phone for nearly a week cause I sneakily used phoenix to install.. but wow best feature has to be upgraded barcode reader, actually works really well now! Didn't notice till someone just said..
Finally... the Nokia N95 hits v21!
Iv tried to uptade my n95 by the nokia software update-and it says that my version(12.00.013) is up to date!...why is that?
It seems 2 x N95s with this 21.0.016 firmware version were just added to forum nokia RDA... If anyone wants to try it out. http://www.forum.nokia.com/rda
Why my youtube videos continues trying to open in RealPlayer? Thanks in advance.
After installing the Nokia software updater and going through the process im finding i keep getting the same message after step 2 saying that there isn't currently any updates for my phone yet my firmware version is still V11.0.026 yet this new firmware is 21.0.016. Any ideas as to why the software updater isn't finding the update for my phone??
Any help would be grateful.
Thanks.

where do i download the new fireware from??
listen n95 users who updated their firmware to v21.
when i learned yesterday that v21 was out, i didnt wait another second to get the new firmware. like most of you guys would do. i made a back up of my files first and then downloaded the freshly brought out upgrade.
the flash 3 support was cool and the web runtime. the phone seemed to work faster too.
but the next 2 thing ill tell you is something what i would call very saddening about this upgrade.
1. the camera flash lights doesnt work anymore. even if you set it on force flash
2. today ( 2nd day of v21 in possession) my phone stopped working and the screen went all black. i thought my phone crashed so i did what i usually do when it happens. i pulled the battery out for about 3 mins but the screen remained black. fyi, a phone that's turned off shows a blank screen. i put it back, same story. my phone is dead and i couldnt turn it on anymore. i immediately drive by the nearest nokia point center and ask if they could fix it. i had to leave my phone there for inspection and reparation. that means i would be able to use it for a couple of days. and this is very tragic.
is there anyone there that encountered the same problem?
piece of advice to those who havent have theyre phone upgraded: wait a couple of days first, and listen to what those who downloaded v21 on their phone. v21 is what i call DOWNGRADE in this matter. im very disappointed with this new firmware....
Hey all,
I just upgraded to v21 yesterday. Flash still works fine. I have found that the web browser just closed without any warning message, and the barcode reader did as well. I have never really used the barcode reader, so it may always have done this, but the web browser usually shows a message before it dies, so this was odd. I loaded the same page again however, and it was ok, so am leaving that in the hands of the gremlins. it seems a bit extreme in retrospect to upgrade just for youtube. I haven't noticed anything that makes this update a must have, the gallery performance on v20 was more than acceptable, so any faster is just fluff. Still no gapless playback in audio, how hard can that be??

Harder than being able to fix the call log bug.
Unregistered wrote:YAY! The call log bug is still there! Thanks Nokia!
What call log bug? Are you referring to the icon on the left hand side beside the number in the call log? If so then when will you morons understand that this is not a bug? The icon (which looks like a mobile phone) simply states that the missed/received/dialled call was a gsm call. If you were to make a voip internet call the icon will show an interent call icon. Understand?

After installing the v21, I have noticed the standby time has improved. My battery would last longer than before. Any comment?
My flash works perfectly as it did on V20. I have only noticed improvements with V21. Noticable improvememnts...
Faster performance with navigating.
Quicker photo responce times
Bar code reader (Superb now with optical differenial grabber)
Battery performance is much much better.
Thats just a few.
Im guessing the members where V21 has caused problems maybe down to the specific model N95-1, and what product code their using, but I don't know.
Maybe someone should start a POLL so people can post their + and - about V21.?

I cant get Eduroam to work 😞
Not available for Australian users yet....
Hi
Upgraded to V 21 over two weeks ago and some thnigs do seem faster BUT crashes a lot on things like n-gage, films, etc.
Right pain
V20 had no such problems so I can only assume it is using too much RAM I need a V22 soon as it crashes on average over 5 times a day.
Anyway still a good phone though.
Cheers
Adam
I wonder if the update is available for all n95s?
I'm not talking about the different models - just the different versions of the original n95. There are different device-ids for different "areas" - I think the areas are geographical, but I'm not sure. The devices h/w can be subtly different too.
For example, I recently wanted to test the translations of our application to Russian and Indonesian (huge markets), but didn't have a phone with those fonts on, so I changed the device id of a HK N70 phone to the relevant one and then updated the firmware. That worked, but it shows that the phones have different firmware.
Note that an HK N70 has a camera on the front of the phone while a Chinese N70 doesn't. I'm not sure why that would be....
Each device id has a different version of firmware. How do we tell how widespread firmware updates are? It's all very well saying the UK version has an update, but what about the rest of the world?
I don't suppose this is an easy thing for AAS to find out...but it'd be very interesting for some of us. It'd at least show what areas Nokia are focussing on...or something.
What do you think?
You can check whether a firmware update is available for your phone model and version (product code) here:

Different countries/regions and different operator-customized versions come out at different schedules (and sometimes network operators decide not to do - pay for - any updates at all).

Eh? I know all that. My point is that it is very difficult to know what regions are being updated - I would have to have one of each device id and attempt to update them all every day in order to find out what I want.
It is easy for the likes of Steve/AAS to sing the praises of Nokia (et al) or a particular phone due to frequent updates or particular bugs being fixed/whatever, but it may well be just them that is getting it, and nothing for other places. I would like to see some way of knowing how fixes are released world-wide.
Actually, I prefer a single version for all phones, with localisation done via a pc client (adding fonts/etc).
That'd be convenient, but that's not the case now (and discussing it on forums like this one won't make it happen).
Nokia has feedback channels listed here:
I am unable to enter my menu on the "shortcut key" to music player.
I have just upgraded from V 12.0.013 to V 21.0.016 and my menu key to the right of the joypad is not working. Does anybody know how to fix this.
Additional info:
New menu application installed.
