I'm having some trouble with backups and restore on my N95. Basically, when I restore a backup I'm not getting all the apps back. Some show up in App Manager as not being installed and I have to install them, some just don't come back at all and I have to download and reinstall them. It's happening with both backups made with Nokia Content Copier and with backups made to my memory card in the phone.
Any one else had this problem? What am I missing?
Seems normal. Some kind of software demands always a new installation.
If you have loads of applications it might be worth putting them on your memory card, they may run slightly slower but it is less hassle.
Are you backing up and restoring both the card and phone memory together ? Apps installed to the card will have various registry, menu bits etc. written to the phone memory.
I've not yet tried a restore, but I have it on good authority that using
Menu -> Tools -> Utilities -> Memory -> Options -> Backup Phone Memory
will backup everything from the phone memory to a single "backup.arc" file on the memory card (in a folder called backup).
You can then use a USB link to copy this file, or the entire memory card, to a PC for backup and any future restore. After restoring the full memory card (or arc file) the phone memory can then be restored from the backup.arc file using the same Menu -> Tools etc. and selecting 'Restore from Mass memory'.
if the certificate as expired it won't reinstall after backing up when you try and copy back onto phone .so you get problems and this is 1 of the reasons i think it is always best to take a note of everything you have installed and reinstall from fresh after a upgrade.Make sure you save any registeration keys you have saved on phone just in case you are asked to register paid for apps again which is not often as they know by the imei.
P.S if you installed anything where you was told u had to change the date back to install them to begin with they 100% wont install with back up

btw after restoring the backup from the memory card, how do you delete the backup? it was around 20 to 30 mb on my memory card
