7650 Runing Microsoft Windows CE ?

It is fake and Very Very old news. This is done with an animated screensaver and some Screenshots! 😃 There was a video of this as well but the timing of pressing the buttons and changing the screenshot wasnt so good! 😃

Well I don;t find it impossible to become reality, but I don't know if it is true or not. Besides there are a lot of crazy programmers/hackers who are doing stuff just for fun...

And about the size, I think the 16megs of rom are quite enough, the only thinks you need is nokia's phoinix(for the firmware),Very good programming skills (not C++ and stuff like that but low level programing) and will...

I haven't seen the video but the timing is excusable, besides it is MS Windows CE,not symbian, so you press a key and wait for a long time for the reaction from the phone to come 😊

PS: It was a while ago when I saw a version of SE t68i with java, but I think it was a japanese version of it, maybe a BETA.

As I said it was fake. Nothing is impossible but this is very unlikely!

Actually the screen changed before he pressed the button which is impossible unless SmartPhone 2002 is so fast that it predicts the key you want to press. Anyways the person who did this told us that it was fake anyways.

Maybe Micro$oft should hire them to make SmartPhone 2000 run on the Sendo Z100 😃
I dont think that any programer that is skillful enough to make Windows CE run on a 7650 will be wasting his time with even trying so 😃

Well on second thought, crazy is not the word to describe such person. Maybe Lunatic or...whatever!

COME ON Windows on mobile phones? Is it the end of the world or what?

PS:I have heard about a mobile version of Linux (not specifically for 7650-I think it was called Midori Linux). Has anyone any info on that,I think it is more realistic...

Linux is used in PDAs so why not mobile phones! Windows CE is also used in phones. I am not sure if you can use a fw of a certain phone as fw for another though.

Well it's true, there is a project for small/mobile devices
Here is the link
http://midori.transmeta.com

And also about the following in the faq:
""Smaller devices", like cell phones?
No. We mean devices like Internet appliances, residential gateway appliances, wireless web pads, and home audio components (MP3 players). We also look forward to hearing about other uses that you might think of. "

The project was a little bit old (more than a year)when it was started. Maybe they didn't believe mobile phones will go so far. And maybe that will change.

Besides there are Linux projects even for X-Box and Playstation2.

I heard that Smartphone 2002 often anticipates a user wanting to switch it off thus saving him the trouble of hitting the power button 😉

This OS's far PDA's and Mobiles are designed for a specific model and they are very hardware dependand, hence you cant use 3650 firmware on a 7650 or even upgrade to a higher Symbian version.
It would be great if you can dual boot OS's like on a PC architecture, but for the time beeing,it is impossible because of the before mentioned hardware dependancies.
I know that Sharp uses Linux on the Zaurus, and i have used Linuxes (PC) that will fit in a lot lest then 16 MB.
I have heard of Midor Linux, developed by Transmeta (Linus Torvalds is their employee i think).
Linux for embeded devices, like mobiles and PDA's,they have been working on it for a long time but sadly, small number of devices are using it.

I was the first to post this!!!!!!!

😃

-EDIT-

There are more Linux distros aimed at embeded systems: Pocket Linux ( http://www.pocketlinux.com ) Embedix from http://www.lineo.com
MontaVista Software ( http://www.mvista.com ) from RedHat i think.

Well I was faster for 1-2 secs (and google was far too faster too show me more info)

Sorry Ghostdog.
YOU HAD THE KNOWLEDGE FROM THE BEGINING (but google had it before you 😃 )
