hi there,
i'm new here, only having got a 7650 last week.
i'm just curious to find out if it is possible to get a virus on my phone by downloading and installing software on it.
if so, are there any antivirus apps for it?
cheers

Yes, it's possible to get a virus on your Symbian phone.
No, there's no AV yet.
😃
However:
1. There are no known viruses for Symbian devices.
2. It's not possible for a virus to be installed automatically on your phone, you would have to install it yourself.
3. A company do actually make an anti-virus product for the Nokia 9210.
I don't think computer virus can affect on Symbian Platform
normally, a virus would be more than 4mb - hence - it can't get in the 7650. 😃
ANd you guys complained about the 4 MB the 7650 had!!!
:P
Well I can surely say that there are many virus that can stick on the boot sector of the hard disk so they are too small (some kilobytes only) and effect the executables (make them bigger by time). Not the famous silly worms and trojan horses attached on e-mails we have now!
Besides it is not hard for a cracker to add a virus to a program, distribute it through warez, and have any information he wants by gprs, sms, mms, etc.
In other words a trojan horse wich will give remote access of our mobile phones to this cracker (just like Back orifice).
Maybe they will create just destructive viruses, and after the instalation the virus will destruct the boot information so a nice "start up failed contact your retailer" message appears and NCS would take it for a month for some examinations!!! Or maybe it will make the files bigger by time copying hisshelf on every executables.
Or maybe just funny viruses
All computer "elders" should remember the cookie virus ("I want a cookie" the computer says, you type cookie and the virus is gone!!!-or reboot the computer and wait for about ten minutes for the message to come again :P )

LOL!!! 😃
Yes, today viruses are lame. Where are times of viruses like Tchernobyl or one-half. I still remember how Tchernobyl overwrited my bios and so destroyed my motherboard. And cookie virus was good too. It can be fun on 7650, because if I good remember, then if you gave him cookie, he wanted more and more and mainly more often 😊 But I'm affraid, that these times are lost in time ;(
