Funnily enough I'd only recently looked at their website and saw nothing new. Thanks for the heads-up. This is a great piece of software and I'm liking the idea of 35% quicker transfer speeds.

EDIT: I've just installed this and really liking the new interface. Very neat piece of software just got neater. Simple painless upgrade too (ok, it cost 5 euros but am happy with that.)

Oooh it supports Linux! I never knew that! 😊 I might consider getting this app if it means I can transfer stuff to my server wirelessly.

With this new version it is so easy to log into your local network and browse the shared folders. You can even share folders on your phone to be browsed on the PC!

To me this was a no brainer. Paid for the software within one hour after learning about its exsistence 😊

I found it not really useful at all. You cant actually get it to 'join' a domain network and so it cant appear in the computers list (it also doesn't broadcast its name properly, its very hit and miss if you can use the name at all), it also will crash sometimes when you press 'stop' on a connection.

Also everytime I want to start up a connection, I have to use the program shortcut, find control panel, then connections, then press on it, then start, which feels a lot slower then plugging in my USB cable 😊

More of a beta product that needs smoothing.

Of course it's easier to plug in a cable, but I thought the whole idea was to go wireless?

And yes, it could be easier to share the folders on the phone, but I guess that will be in the next version. Attaching to a wlan network is so much easier in this version than the previous and let's face it: there is no competition to SymSMB.

So the fact that it is available and works quite nice is enough to win me over. But maybe that's just me...

its a great app but it needs auto connect when launching the app from the menu so we dnt have to manualy connect everytime we open the app, great work tho to the guys over at telexy

Not sure how much simpler it could get. Click on a shared folder and the program connects and displays contents. Seems easy enough to me.

I must be missing something here - I share files on the phone with no problems.....

Apparently, yes. As has been mentioned here, it takes some effort to get it running on every log on, although not that bad. Would be nice if the proggie noticed you loggin on to that specific net and started sharing without interaction.

This is where I disagree. True, the original version was a pain but this new version is so simple. You launch the program (one click), you open "My phone" (one click), you click on the shared drive of the PC (one click) - contents of the folder displayed. How much simpler can it get?

It should autoconnect for both ways sharing when you connect to a predefined wlan. Seems quite logic...

Ah, understand what you're trying to say now. I've only been looking at it from a phone to PC perspective. Didn't think of the PC to phone view. Soz. That said, I still don't have a problem the other way either, as all I*do is click on the predefined shortcut and it opens up the explorer window of my phone's drive. But granted, it could possibly be a little simpler. Nothing like being spoon fed 😉

Oh well... Could have been more clear, I guess. But we seem to agree that it's a rather nice proggie and that's the important thing 😊

just tried this out now with my N95 8GB with a 2 desktops & a laptop,it worked flawlessly...no fiddlying with connections...excellent work Telexy!

massive update on the V2 release...

I got this notice passing it on ..

There were a few issues discovered in original version of SymSMB 3.50 (Build 12) since it was published. They are addressed in Build 18, currently available for download from our website:
http://www.symsmb.com/Products/Products.aspx?ProductId=12
Please download and install it over your current SymSMB installation (to preserve your settings).

WARNING: after installation you will need to download and register whatever license you have (trial or permanent).

The addressed issues are:

1. CRITICAL! File corruptions were noticed during file copy.

2. Windows Vista SP1 incompatibility. Was noticed with installed NOD32.

3. SymSMB Client: 445/139 port switch. This means: if you have a NAS drive and Host Unreachable error trying to access it from SymSMB now is the time to try again. Error now could be different 😉

BTW, about NAS drives. We want to support as many of them as we can. But first we need to sort them out. If you have a NAS drive, working with SymSMB or not (especially NOT), please find a minute and let us know about it here: http://forum.telexy.com/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=755#755

4. 2 new languages added: Swedish and Chinese (Peoples Republic of China).
Again, if your own language is not in the list and you are able to help with translation it is not too late.
Just let us know here: http://forum.telexy.com/ShowForum.aspx?ForumID=43
