symbol next to menu after updating firmware to v20 help (n95 8gb)

I sometimes had this before but when i restarted the phone it was back to normal.
Now when I click the menu button the symbol is next to "menu" at the very top of the screen. It shouldnt be there should it. think it is the symbian symbol but it uses up the screen. Hope you know what i am referring to.

I have installed the new firmware twice now and its still there even after restarting phone.

Is yours like this after you have updated your firmware?

how do I sort it?

anyone with the new v20 on their n95 8gb confirm what theirs is like?

Mine is the new euro1 product code.

Any ideas?

this means you have an open apps running to close this press menu button for 2sec then choose the desired app you want to close then hit C button to close this app.

no it doesnt mate. Im on about the icon at the top of the screen

Im talking about the icon next to "menu" at the top of the screen, the one to the left, the one with green and blue in it. That is not there normally on V15, only once or twice it happened but its there all the time on V20! Its eating up the screen space and its naff

Are the icons smaller then as they are all still shown on the screen?

Cant you see the icon I am referring to?

did you try changing your theme? coz i think that icon shows only on preinstalled themes i have that on my n82 as well and n95 8gb

no i like the original theme that I have always had.

Liam548 wrote:so are you suggesting that it is now correct and the menu symbol should always be there? and not a fault like I thought it was?

Correct...... it's not a fault. The icon has always been there. Even on the N80's. It started to disappear when the N95 came out and went into Landscape mode, which does not have the icon.

Mine is the same, I always thought this was normal but I don't see how it eats up screen space because if it wasn't there you still wouldnt get any more icons on the screen as far as i could see

Without the icon the signal and battery bars are smaller, as in landscape mode, and the menu icons appear larger, again as in landscape mode. You do not actually get any more icons on the page, just slightly larger ones.

As the old saying goes, "One man's meat is another man's poison."

This question of the missing Menu icon has cropped up before on this, and other, forums over the past 9 month's or so. I know it's not earth shattering but at least we now have an explanation.

It is a fault, the icon shouldn't be displayed in S60 V3 Feature Pack One

You should get the small bar with just the word 'Menu' and the small signal and battery bars.

Another buggy Nokia firmware release.

Previous devices like the N80 didn't use FP1 hence they showed the icon.

cheers. There have been posts suggesting that this is not a fault and in fact it is a fix.

How can we confirm it either way?
